View Full Version : Quit in 2003 due to ban, staff won't consider lifting 10 year old ban
Honestly, I'm not even bothered that my ban wasn't lifted because it's been over a decade. But, I feel like the staff should have at least considered lifting such an old ban on a "veteran" player who invested so much time and money into this game once upon a time.
12-year-old me received a permanent ban in 2004 for stealing furniture, this was so long ago I can't even remember what I did or if I was actually guilty. However, I contacted staff today to try and reason an unban, because I would love to get back into this game I used to know and love. I received a generic, uninterested reply about how they wouldn't even consider an unban.
Many of you will probably argue that a ban is a ban and it should stand. But, it seems a shame that they wouldn't even consider lifting a ban from over a decade ago, and not allowing "veteran" players to get back into this once fantastic game.

Did you actually get a reply saying you won't be unbanned? They usually send an email saying because your ban is older than 6 months they can't do anything.
One appeal isn't always enough. You need to be persistent and give them reason why you think you have changed over the 10 years. I remember when I was unpermed, I had to tell them what I learnt... Just tell them what they want to hear :)

Is this an account ban or an all out ip ban? If it's an account ban surely it would have been deleted during the merge?

Account almost certainly doesn't exist any more (or was remade by someone else if it does), happened to both my 2001 accounts :P

One in 2010, one in 2011 and one today.

It still exists. I get the usual permanent ban message when I log in.
The don't seriously expect me to wait until 2019 for the ban to end do they!

Yeah they do :P Thats the idea of the perm ban ;-) Although if Habbo was still open in 2019, with it being a permanent, they'd probably re-ban for the account haha!

Funnily enough Habbo bans aren't the same as real life prison sentences and many perm ban people have had them lifted :P

Do you have an alert every time I post reminding you to argue with me?
The ban was for 10 years, so in 10 years, that's when OP can have his account back. Pay the price for breaking the rules.
on phone xx
0rca perm banned my account MOD-Microsoft .. expires in 2020. Doubt I'll get it back tho.

But like he said in the first post, Laura, he isn't 100% sure if he was rightly convicted.
Just think of all the times www.habbox.com has caused a ban to Habbox members and they've got it unbanned

You quit in 2003 due to a ban, but usually perms only last 11 years, why do you have to wait until 2019. Was that the default time back then?
all uk bans were lifted in 2007/8... why wasn't yours?

Wouldn't all UK accounts that weren't merged have been deleted anyway? Meaning he could be on the .com hotel rather than .co.uk. Maybe, idk :P.
OP which hotel is your account on?

Most bans were lifted except the most serious.

Good question, I did mention that in my ticket. Received a generic reply about why they won't lift the ban.
It's been a whole decade! The following things have happened in the last decade:
Myspace, Facebook and YouTube invented
Pluto demoted from Solar System and planetary status
Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden executed
iPhone invented
USB replaces floppy disk
3 Olympic Games, 2 World Cups
Obama becomes president
World population hits 7 billion
Yux remains banned
It's a damn shame that they won't even consider the idea of lifting a decade-old ban - every reply I receive is blatantly automated.
Took me like 5 appeals (over a period of a year) before my ban was lifted. Just be patient :D

Not true. Lost_Witness confirmed prior to leaving that everyone was unbanned due to a technical mishap. It was long suspected but only confirmed by him. This is also why it never happened on any other hotel. The approach Sulake went with (wisely) was that everyone deserved a second chance and the serious offenders has been banned once again. This wasn't true, just a sweetener.

Actually, you would almost certainly end up with a reduced sentence..

Yes I do agree you should be unbanned, it's over ten years now and they should see you've changed in those ten years. Just Habbo being Habbo as per usual..

Actually in prison if you behave well, your sentence can be shortened.. so I don't see why Habbo would be different :P

If you got ban you have to wait any period to get your account back. Doesn't matter If this is 1week, 1 decade or 2 decades. You made wrong decisions then you need to pay.

This is true. Most people get out in half the time. My friends mate accidently killed someone, got 4 years and was out in 2.

Why should you be unbanned? You shouldn't. You clearly did break the rules (I don't buy the "I can't remember" claim) and you deserve the full ban. You do not have any right to have your scammed furniture back because it was never yours to begin with.
Make a new account and buy credits.

Anyway Habbo.com didn't open until September 1st 2004 so you must mean UK and if the ban was 2003 then all accounts were unbanned in 2007/2008. Unless you meant from .COM and just exaggerated about the 2003 thing. If it's uk the ban must have been in last 5/6 years - not 10 years like you're suggesting.

Yikes, is that correct? Looks like I got my facts wrong if so. I thought all bans were 15 years; the ban ends on 2018, so I figured the ban occurred in 2003.

Firstly, how your account has survived the merge is beyond my knowledge of the mass delete details, but you're in the lucky minority chum!
Most perm bans can be appealed in time, especially in good time, as staff changes and system changes blur the circumstance in which you were banned, it should be a lot easier to appeal.
Assuming you were say 13/14 in 2004(?) - then you're in your 20s now, late teens maybe? This could be good or bad. Good: Really play on this when you're appealing and write in full prose about your genuine interest in the hotel, your wish to revisit and reconnect with long lost friends, your recent hard study of the Habbo way, citing what clauses you think you breached and how you understand a) how to avoid breaching them again and b) the lessened learned and moral epiphany this had induced. Seriously, really sell it to them, I had two questionable perm bans in the past on HOSKO02 and got both of them cleared by taking the blame anyway and presenting it as a lapse in my judgement etc. I've helped others over the years get unpermed through this approach, and I'd email weekly until they approach your case direct, peppering it with a suggested intent to be a credit purchasing user won't hurt either.
The bad. They see no incentive in releasing the account of a user who hasn't been active for 5+ years (a long time to leave a perm ban appeal admittedly) and presume you're not going to spend money, be familiar with the new T&Cs/Habbo Way policies (especially post-scandal (http://www.channel4.com/news/striptease-and-cyber-sex-my-stay-at-habbo-hotel) and are likely over the desired age group for target players, who knows, they may have a criteria on individual character appeals, best you can do is be apologetic to the nines and mature in your godly intents.
Good luck if you've tried again, any news?
