Surely you know whether you want the retina one or not? Both are ex Solent quality, and the screens are really nice too.

do i need a retina or is the normal one fine?
If you like a really good screen go for retina, i believe if you choose between retina and non-retina (standard) some of the other things drop such as memory. Mac fans speak highly of retina, although some have complained of over heating

What's the point asking? it's your choice. You're just trying to show off.
get the one with retina display then if someone asks you why you bought one you can justify it with the single advantage it has
Retina. But I'm a ***** for high res.
Edit: Interesting word to be censored :S.

Heh, standard.

Yes you need retina, because the normal one is not fine - it is totally unusable, Apple just sell it for a laugh.

Get a pc they're cheaper and better and you don't look like an absolute **** for having one

Your current macbook is not retina.
Therefore, to answer your earlier question, you clearly do not need retina.

pixel density has nothing to do with how long you'll be able to use a laptop

Retina isn't worth the extra money unless you're working with high res imagery.

Non retina, the web is just gettin' ready for it, just a small percentage of the sites are retina ready, same goes with software.

I'm going to wait and see when the new ones come out on the 15th and I will decide then. Thank-you for everyone who offered constructive advice.
