option 3

personally prefer option 1. i like option 3's cred/duckets section, but i believe the top of the screen should be kept clear for speech.

which do you prefer?

Are they actually gonna implement it this time and nor leave us waiting years for a better UI

I prefer option 3 but I see the issue with speech.

So, its 1 for me.

Preposterous! None of these concepts will "de-clutter" the UI, I'd argue they will do exactly the opposite. The current UI has two toolbars, and concepts 1 and 3 still have two toolbars - concept 2 even has three toolbars to complicate things further. There should be a 4th option of "None", as the thought of having a bar at the top is abominable.

We need one toolbar for everything. I suggest something similar to this (notice how little the UI is cluttered compared to the proposed concepts, and also the amount of users online!):

Firstly, I think it's great they're giving players the chance to vote, rather than storming ahead with it. I chose 3 but after a few minutes, wondered how this might work with chat and the history thing.

That aside, it looks the best imo.

I LOVE the bar being at the side so it was down to 1 or 2, but the bar at the top would annoy me so it has to be 1

ah I miss those days. But there's so much more it's hard to fit into one ui... But I'm sure it isn't impossible. Let's hope sulake manages to finally get a ui like this again.

I was going to have 3 for me, the icons look sweet and smarter than the old chunky ones. Although a tiny bit of the chat will be hidden which is a downside for fast moving chat.. so i'll have to go with number one. The new room settings looks fab and its a relief that they have finally smartened up the top right corner and i'm glad to see WATCH AND EARN is finally ridden of!

P.S. No more friend bar, yesss!

Samantha

I prefer number one as I like the icons at the side. However, I remember having this idea ages ago, which I still think would help a great deal.

When the friend bar came about and many didn't like it I thought a good idea instead of a disable button would be to have the little arrow tabs on the friend bar, icon list, HC/Creds/Duckets details that way you could minimise them if you wanted and ultimately have a bigger screen. I still think it would work well now.

My idea here: http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=704749&highlight=arrow+tab

Following up from my last post, they should have done something like this:

http://i.imgur.com/lU2F55p.png

A modern take on the original toolbar that I quickly made in Photoshop. It's the only concept that actually de-clutters the screen properly, as unnecessary buttons and features have been condensed or removed.

Personally I like option 3 for moving the sidebar to the top, however as with the issues stated, such as the chat needing to be visible at all times, I'd go for option one, UNLESS they remove the giant chunk of middle blankness in option 2.

I love the idea of your mock version, but there are way to many buttons along the bottom. The game button shouldn't be there, get rid of it completely and the credits should open in the same window as the inventory. I really hope they implement what we want, instead of giving us a very poor Habbo client.

I like it but way too many buttons at the bottom. My screen is only small and doubt that would even fit. Also it would be better and more minimalist to just have the credits hc and duckets button and you hover over to see the amount you have left.

How about this? I have removed the irrelevant icons, and made a compact version. I know Habbo is capable of making their toolbars resize depending on screen width, as they currently do it with the friends bar! I do admit, the Games and Purse button were not needed. Less is more :)

but it wouldnt hurt having the duckets, HC, coins and log out at the top still and then have more room for the speech bar or room settings

in option 1 they should put the room settings on the bottom bar and fit it all in :/ :\ :/

Please note I purposely made that toolbar shorter than it should be for Red, to demonstrate that it could be resizable depending on your screen size. So for some people with wider screens the speech bar would be a lot bigger and it could show more information (i.e. How many credits, duckets, days left of HC).

yes i just think it would be good that not EVERYTHING was on the bottom bar, rather just....most of it

i think wat they could do with urs also would be when u hover ur mouse over the icons it would say "rooms" "inventory" "friends" etc.

it would actually work perfectly. i cant believe how stupid and incompetent the current designers are but at least they realise the current design doesnt work

I don't like it. There is no report button so players will again be clueless. The catalouge and navigator icons are awful and very outdated and the credit, ducket and HC numbers should be shown. I'd go with Sulakes mock up..

The report button is removed in the Sulake mock ups. They have kept with 'help'. The question mark does the same as the help button.

Maybe remove the question mark and put a red exclamation mark / help button above log out.

The icons can be updated, isn't really a pressing issue. He is just showing that it can be done in a much more space effective way.

I feel like one of the best designs was Illumina by ediootti, even though at some points it was a bit dull. If they mixed it up with some of the elements we have now, I think it could work well. Here's a quick mock up I made:

http://bit.ly/15yy2fe

The room and the name do not match but it's just to give an idea of what I think could work. I think the friend bar is a pretty neat feature, it gives easy access to chatting or following friends. The top bar has all the essential icons (question mark being report + help, could be an exclamation mark too). Events are not there but could be added. Log out would be under "You".
Room info would be very simple, just appear on the side like that, it still has all the stuff you need to know. And you would also be able to click it away to the side.
The small round things under the chat area would be color options for the bubbles (I wish they'd just take them out all together but no can do). I'd also like the option to shout/say/whisper to return - it would help new players use the different chatting methods without surprises (accidentally pushing shift and shouting).
Minimail and chat would be combined within the console somehow, which also needs a makeover really...

Just my ideas. I don't use the COM-hotel so if anyone likes this and wants to forward it to staff, feel free to do so.

28.74% of you were keen on option 1, a mere 8.65% liked option 2 and the hot favourite was option 3 with 62.61% of all votes.

Also, please know that we are not making final decisions based on this poll, nor do we have a release date yet, but it's definitely a work in progress.

And yeah, thanks for the ideas posted on this thread. As for criticizing our designers... I can just say that many people can draw a clean design with a few icons. Marrying it with the harsh reality of existing client architecture, user habits, budget and time constraints, and internal politics - that is where only few have succeeded so far.
