Should methanol cigarettes be banned?

Last week, the EU moved to ban methanol cigarettes along with an additional ban on packs of ten cigarettes. The apparent reason given for moving to ban methanol cigarettes was that it makes smoking more attractive to the young.

But what do you think? should methanol cigarettes be banned or is this another case of big government overstepping the mark and interfering in peoples private lives too far? will the ban even work given that supposed illegal drugs such as cannabis are easy to obtain? Is it right that the state step in to protect people from themselves?

Just a note - this isn't a debate on whether the EU should be stepping in, rather the more general sense of whether politicians (whether it's the EU or Westminster) should be stepping in over issues like this.
