Now, I have a feeling this thread isn't going to get all the credit it deserves.
Sherlock, the BBC TV series, has pretty much saved me hours of boredom simply because it's so awesome. Benedict Cumberbatch is my absolute favourite actor, and I was disappointed to hear earlier this year that he would not be playing the Doctor in another BBC series called Doctor Who. I've waited a long time for Series 3 simply because (some people will know) Sherlock dies at the end of Series 2, but is yet still alive in the graveyard somehow.:S

Coincidentally, I know the son of the director of one episode of Sherlock S3, as well as the director of The Bells Of Saint John (Doctor Who episode). He's done a few other things but those were his main directing roles.

But with Series 3 soon approaching, and a confirmed date for the show on BBC America, what do you think about it?

I'm excited for its return, but I hate how there is only 3 episodes a season.
I'm currently watching and loving elementary (another version of a modern day sherlock) with lucy lui as dr watson.

I've heard of that, isn't it on a Sky channel? I should check it out.
Anyway, even if there are only 3 eps a season, they are feature-length episodes.
Mind you, feature-length can vary massively these days :\

One of the reasons Benedict couldn't do the Doctor was because he has so many things he needs to film (hence why it's taking so long for series 3) and the same goes for Martin. Butbutbut, I will admit Elementary is helping me stay sane until S3 of Sherlock comes out.

Also, there's a video on YouTube where Benedict actually explains it, but it's fast forwarded in the video so the fans can't hear what he's saying, and just see his gestures.

JUST WANT MY BBY BACK ON SCREEN. </3

I love the Sherlock series on BBC and really can't wait for it to be back even if it is just 3 episodes long. It's just so good!

Yep Yep Yep. Sherlock reboot on the beeb is the absolute best. and I agree I was gutted when he wasn't announced as the new Doctor, although it wasn't likely he'd get it considering the amount of work he's got on at the moment. Not long now and it'll be back on! Yay :D

I really can't wait for it to come back wow. It's really not that long now ahh.

Only problem is it will be over so quickly and then the wait starts again. That's the problem with having three episodes. Even though they're long and altogether are longer than some other seasons of shows, the 3 episodes makes it go so quickly!! And it takes so long between seasons, I've watched set pictures then trailers then premieres for some movies and other shows come and go during the wait. But I think it will be worth it.

And yeah Elementary is keeping me sane as are my other shows haha. Elementary is pretty good and I've grown to like it more during season 2.

i'm so annoyed because it's being premiered on december 15th at the BFI
i'd go but it's gonna be impossible to get a ticket, and we still don't have an air date
meaning all the people who see it at the BFI are gonna know what happens

SO MUCH SPOILER POTENTIAL, it scares me

Agreed. Also, what really gets me, is there are so many different books and things based on Sherlock Holmes that Moffat and Mycroft could modernise. So why only 3 episodes? If I was them, and COULD only make 3 eps per season, I would put one on once a month. Just to be annoying

I've been waiting for season three for so much! I'm not a huge fan of Moffat being the head writer of Doctor Who as he overcomplicates everything, which I think is unfair on the fans who are children (especially as it's meant to be a family show :S). However his fantastically detailed ideas work perfectly with Sherlock- I would be disappointed if I managed to work out what was going to happen before Sherlock did!

I know one of the writers from Sherlock (who also writes Dr Who) and he's given me a couple of hints for Doctor Who in the past, but never anything from Sherlock! It's so frustrating because the last episode is nothing like the Reichenbach Fall the story so it's not like anyone can be like "oh I've read the books" :(

I'm glad everyone else agrees with 3 episodes per season being annoying. I read a hilarious article ten-ish months ago about how "Three is not Telly, six or twelve is Telly".

So, if you don't mind my asking, what was your point in posting in the thread?
