No.
The standard of moderating on this forum is incredibly high, and 9 times out of 10, something is dealt with very quickly. Especially if you actually report it.
Since I know you're referring to the moderating in the payments thread, I think that's an unfair example; Samanfa even said that between when she was reading it there were 30+ new replies, which are very difficult to moderate that quickly.
I do think that the department isn't full any more, which does kind of show at times, but like I said, most of the time they do a very good and very quick job.

Not seen any problems with it recently apart from some odd decisions in what they think makes a post "pointless" (ie: discussing the thread, carrying on a point, responding to peoples' posts...) but go ahead and state your beef

No, that's not the point. the point that Chris is online and active messaging me back saying I HAVE to report them seeing as I'm so concerned is silly. That's his and his teams job.

Hardly, the only moderator online is me (aside from Chris) and there are only two of us (not including SMODs) who can edit the Habbo forums. I have replied to your PMs informing you that I will get round to it eventually. However, I have just finished moderating one post and I was greeted by an additional two pages on that thread. I am currently eating, but it's ok I'll stop that and moderate threads in real time shall I?
Thanks for telling me about the bullying/targeting posts though, it's not like you're doing the same now is it?

Stupid to assume that moderators can view every single post created. That's like saying you shouldn't report things to the police because they should always be there watching. Only been back two days so I don't know how the moderating is. Just thought your reply was silly.

Chris might be online, but he has more jobs than just moderating posts. Also, reiterating that I am online therefore I can deal with the posts instead of him and allow him to continue doing whatever admin or feature based things he is doing.
Not only that, but you do have to report them and then we will be PMed if we're a normal moderator as we can't see the logs. Sometimes delays occur - you don't seem to realise that we have lost 2 moderators in about 2 months and they haven't been replaced as of yet. One of them was a Habbo based moderato, who helped me and Elliott edit the Habbo forums. He has now resigned and Elliott isn't online, so pardon me for not being so quick.

No, but the fact that the forum manager is aware of the problems and can't be bothered to sift through. I don't mind reporting 4 things, however, ten things wrong in one thread is another bread and butter...

I'm actively involved in the thread you're talking about and I've seen two posts that break rules. One where a user called another user a ginger rat and then your one saying "I like computers" or something equally as pointless.

They're human, their eyes can literally only read so many posts in any given time. Samanfa IS moderating that thread as quickly as she can, but if you think a post is particularly bad then by reporting it, you draw attention to it and it is dealt with much quicker than it would be normally.
He didn't say it won't be moderated if you didn't report it - it might just take a little bit longer than it would do if you did report it.

Generally, we don't need anymore new staff, although they have left the forum is quieter and less posts need moderating. However, sometimes we just get that one thread like the payments one and suddenly it gets more difficult. We don't really need more staff currently though, as I said the forum's quieter - it's just one thread.

Yes, I said that, but I meant it as though we've lost two staff and usually it's unnoticed and we don't need them (in general), but sometimes one extra for days like today could be perfect. However, I don't mind.

I understand what you are on about, some forums do need to be moderated a little more, but I find the way you are going about it is completely wrong. If you have a complaint, I would take it up with a Manager, or somebody like that instead of posting a thread which will obviously cause aggro in some people.

Tokyo, I do not want to have to go to a manager. Read my first post, I wanted VIEWS not INSULTS taking place on this thread. I asked what people thought, I've had a few replies from people saying 'yeah, they're good' which is good.

I'm rather confused by this thread.
I'm not sure what quality of moderating you're expecting on a habbo fansite, by moderators who are nothing more than volunteers, but I can tell you that the standard of moderating is pretty damn good at the moment (if I say so myself :P).
Also I'd like to apologize that the post which you recently reported took me all of 6 minutes to deal with- far from satisfactory!
Since when were you Chris?
Um if there is anyone getting on like a moderator, its you... going around calling people's posts pointless. The other thread you literally added nothing constructive, just moaning saying it should be closed. Moderation is fine.

It's not really a survey when you kick off the thread saying that moderating is poor, I was giving my honest reply to you - filling in your survey if you really must, and explaining why it may seem poor at the moment because some new members don't understand the workings of Habbox in their first month or so of being here!

This forum has the best moderation of any forum I've been both Habbo and non-Habbo. Its monitored more a less 24/7 by active and dedicated moderators, who do their job and interact with the community on the forum. Bans aren't issued hastily, warnings are issued then infractions, inappropriate content is removed straight away etc.
Having served as a Moderator on the forum myself, I can also say that all the Moderators on this forum are mature, sophisticated and know what their doing, on many a fansite you have power hungry young teens making a complete mess of the moderation and banning people left right and center etc.
Chris

You seem to be doing an awful lot of complaining and not a lot to help the situation. As I told you earlier, you need to report the posts if you want them seeing to as quickly as possible. As it happens, Samanfa and Matt are now working on it so it should all be sorted soon.
Also I just want to say that my job isn't to moderate. It is to oversee moderation on the forum, amongst other behind the scenes jobs which are all very time consuming.

07-11-2013, 06:50 PM
I personally think the moderating is quite good at the moment, and I'm sure you can understand that a thread which is very quickly expanding to more and more pages can't be read instantly by all the moderators, who might not be online whilst it's starting meaning it'd take them even longer to read through it. However, if you report the post then that'll bring attention to that post and therefore the posts will get dealt with quicker because you're essentially telling the mods where to find the rule breaks - and that's what you should be doing in this case. The thread has only been around for a few hours, I'm sure that any post you report in there will be dealt with soon. You have to understand that there's a lot more to go through on the forum other than just 1 thread, and anyway not all of the mods are online yet either :).

If he or anyone else wants to give feedback then that's their decision imo.
oh come on, this is a habbo fansite. It has a demographic of about 13 - 21, let go a bit.
HxF is very well moderated, go and have a look at other fansites moderation skills then look back at HxF, there is such a massive leap. Sometimes, the mods go over the top with it, I'd rather that then have no moderation. I would hate to be apart of a forum that was literally forced to be perfect, I like seeing peoples banter and pointless posts. This isn't a military organisation where everyone has to be lovely and perfect.
If you have such a massive problem about moderation, why not give some actual feedback on what you think they could change rather than make a thread that offers no actual constructive comments or real feedback other than 'its poor, wbu?'
Mr-Trainor
07-11-2013, 06:53 PM
Ok actually I just noticed something..
a post I reported on the 24th October for posting a rep comment has received the reply 'The rule has changed and is now allowed' - but that rule only changed on the 2nd November meaning it took nearly a week for a post report to be dealt with?
My moderator senses are tingling... there's trouble on HabboxForum! I better go deal with it.
But seriously, not every moderator can view every single post within the matter of an hour, that's ridiculous to even assume that. To speed up the process, perhaps (like Chris mentioned) you should report said posts and they will be dealt with responsibly and as fast as possible. :) - thanks for your views though!

Oh, and what you also might want to take into account is that we are not employed. We are all volunteers here on this forum, giving up our free time to moderate the forums and to receive pointless criticism isn't fantastic. If you have constructive criticism to make that we could act upon, then fair enough - but you don't. Currently there isn't a massive demand for new moderators, unless chris feels we need a new smod, then a new mod would take their place but it's fine how it is now. We can't all be oline 24/7 and when we are, and there is a rule break, I think it's dealt with very quickly.

Wouldn't call it poor but what I find annoying is that the threads are closed when an argument starts, what's the problem with mild arguments?? It's keeping the forum active. Arguments are fine, unless someone personally attacks the other person
I don't know if this rule still exists but "Leave the moderation to the moderators" is this 'warning' really necessary? A person is trying to tell the other person to behave and the moderator is like oh shoot that ain't allowed and goes ahead and gives a warning? That's ****** up and also kinda arrogant

Agree 100%. I don't get why - on a forum with a dwindling userbase - we still feel the need to close threads due to an argument (which can usually be better described as a debate). As long as the posts are not all personal, I really do fail to see the problem...

I think it's due to not impersonating Habbox staff. However, the rule has been made more lenient in the past, so I think it's fine.
With threads like that, I'd rather move them to spam instead of closing them just because they're starting to become heated or off topic. Activity is important!

If you think that moderation is poor how do you think it can be improved?
I think that the moderation could be improved by having priorities. There are clear priorities of bullying and pointless posts. Bullying is more important than pointless posts and should be addressed first.
Also, closing my thread in the complaints department when the complaint is in process isn't needed either - abuse of rights.
I am, however, going to say that I have had replies from users saying that moderation is good in other aspects which I do appreciate and I realise that most of you are trying hard.
