View Full Version : Radio Player on the Forum

One thing that always bugs me is having multiple Habbox related tabs open. If im browsing the forum and want to tune in, I've still got to open habbox.com to listen.
The image below is a shot of the Header of the forum, that has plenty of "whitespace" in which a small player could be placed so that we can tune in via the forum too?
Is this a possibility?

No, everytime you change page it'd reload.

Way to be creative about it..
Responses like that, will reduce the suggestions made.. there are more polite ways to reject an idea.
there is already a radio player at the bottom of the forum? I think it is on 2010 site skin

How was that not polite? He provided an answer and a reason. Unfortunately it might not have been the answer you wanted, but it wasn't rude :s?
If we did have one it'd have to be one you had to push play on, if not then you'll get annoyed members who don't listen to the site.

Not using the 2010 Skin.
The suggestion was the big empty space at the top of the 2011 skin, could hold a player.
Otherwise make a future consideration for newer skins?
And I'm sure there are ways around this.
"everytime you change page it'd reload."

It came across as there was no consideration whatsoever. There are ways around full page refreshes. Rather than taking the suggestion and looking at how it could work, it was a blatant No.

I don't believe it's there anymore as the plugin is no longer compatible with the latest version of vBulletin.

Most people don't want a radio, especially one that automatically plays that crap that's on HxL and furthermore especially one that takes up space at the top of the forum.
If people really want to listen to HxL, open 1 extra tab, it's not hard.

I tend to use firefox, but my extensions are refusing to work, so I've moved to Opera

Fair enough, It was just a suggestion. Apologies for causing a fuss.
Sorry for having a go @GoldenMerc

Have you ever thought about trying Chrome? As then you could use the Habbox(Live) extension.

Not sure how it was rude, It is possible, yes. With money to get someone to code...

I've used chrome a lot in the past but its too slow on my system and there's a lot of issues with it. Content that should expand (Like on the DJ Panel) or on Facebook just won't expand with it properly. Which bugged me as Chrome was the better browser of the lot.

Yeah, Fair enough mate. Apologies.

Welcome to the Habbox Feedback forum where they can't just disagree with your idea they have to shove it down your throat so you never suggest an idea ever again ;). Don't let it put you off suggesting ideas in the future!
There used to be one and while I do think the radio is a vital tool in getting people from Habbo to the forum (as well as events/hxhd departments), I'm not sure if it'd be used enough to warrant it.

There was nothing wrong with Ross' post at all.
As people have said, it would have to be a 'Press play to activate' sort of thing, because having music everytime you change page would be annoying, one of the reasons the current Habbox site annoys me.

Can use Google Chrome and then use an ext. for it. I'll look to see if there is other solutions we could come across that puts the radio back on the forum.

Not sure how my reply was rude, was just simply saying if Habbox can't do v7 what are the chances they can do something which requires extreme coding and also could cause potentially more problems for the vBulletin (e.g when they update it, it'd reset it all thus it'd have to be re-implemented for when vb5 is installed / if)

Explaining why a proposal isn't possible =/= shoving it down [their] throat
But there you go, some people just love to pretend that all ideas are worthwhile and anyone who says no is evil

I actually like this idea! If people didn't want to listen they could just mute the radio.

It's not about saying all ideas are worthwhile or that everyone must agree at all times, more an understanding that not everyone is capable of brushing off critique and adapting your no accordingly or we just end up with a forum where a small minority are the only ones willing to share feedback and ideas.
I'd rather open a new tab for hxl rather than it reloading every time I go on a new page.
Thanks for your suggestion iGenius; :P.
As it stands, the majority of the forum users don't (and don't wish to) listen to the HabboxLive radio. We can't help that, which is one of the reasons why the radio is in fact on another site and isn't integrated on here. As stated in previous posts, we have other ways for you to listen to the radio. The most obvious would be to just open a new tab. As well as this, however, we have the Chrome extension you can use which will play the radio no matter what tab you're on and no matter what tab is open.
If you're interesting in the extension mentioned, you can install it by going here:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/habbox-live-radio-player/hcdkgehfhphmeboifigdmichgdmmcmli
Of course, it will require Chrome.
Hope this helps. Sorry if we couldn't be of more help to you :)
There used to be the HabboxLive Desktop App that I used to prefer rather than the Chrome Ext. It was easier to click pause, close and send shoutouts, what ever happened to that?
I can remember it being taken down, but I can't remember if it was ever put back (sorry if I'm wrong)
I listen to it via TuneIn online now, because I'm just lazy

Pretty sure the HxL desktop app was by David, and david left so I doubt anyone else could/could be bothered maintaining it.

that desktop app was worse than forum dueling
didn't even have a volume slider
it did have a volume control, it was updated with it after first release
its a shame that no-one maintained it, when it worked properly (like the last month) it was a good little app

The Desktop App we were told would have no lag yet it was worse than actually opening a tab to the radio. I still have it on my other laptop :P.
I see no use in a desktop app. The only apps that I would view as purposeful and keeping up with the times are mobile apps for Adrois and ios. I could get a friend to work on this, but there simply hasn't been enough interest gauged in order to go through all the headache of doing so.
I've requested the plugin be added to the bottom of the forum, as has always been last week, but was informed that it wouldn't work anymore due to the fact HxF has been updated and thus it wouldn't be compatible. When I have some spare time, I may scout around for an alternative.
As for a radio player playing in the background, from a purely egotistical standpoint, I'd say OK. But the fact is, many normal forum members have no desire to listen to HxL, and if people were that keen, they can obviously open the main website or use TuneIn Radio app via your phone (which is another argument why a mobile app isn't essential as well).

Would it be possible to make the Chrome extension work on different browsers? I have the Chrome extensions on Opera, but the extension for HabboxLive doesn't work.
