A big world map pin pointing everyone's location by city (not anymore detailed than that for privacy reasons)

blue pin points for Habbox Members
red pin points for staff members :P

Google maps has a feature, it's simple to do

Plus, all you could do is just get a world map and stick a bunch of red and blue pins all over the UK and then like two or three in north america and 5 or 6 in australia and bam you're done

In all honesty like Nick said it can just be a bigger way for people to stalk you especially pedophiles if they know why their doing; if you make it so that the pin is only plotted on the map and can't zoomed into then I don't see why not!

I believe the ones that do this all automatic do it via the IP address you use. So it would put the marker to which specific area your IP address belongs to and not just the country (UK for example). The biggest concern for most people and also for myself would be privacy issue in regards of it all.

I don't see this working. People can just zoom in on that google map and make it a lot easier to see where you live.

Your location on the profile is optional, the plugins I've seen don't make it optional.

Are we talking about using a vBulletin plugin that uses Google Maps and bases it of your IP location automatically. Or just generally creating one on Google Maps and letting people do whatever they want on it and put their location to anywhere? As that's two different things.

The latter, yeah. I may be mistaken but I never really got the sense from the OP that it needed to be integrated on the forum per se, more like a thread with a link or something lol

I'm pretty sure you can set the GMaps one to be locked so people can't add markers aside from the map creator.
Then you could just have a thread where people would post their towns/cities and the creator would add a marker for the user.

Oh and I don't see any issues with privacy if you go with GMaps. It would be completely optional if you wanted yourself added. Also just then only add the town/city of the user instead of streets and houses. It wouldn't be much different to the location on profile.

Well you already have your location on your Habbox profile thing so I don't think your location by country will be an issue

If it's just by like country, e.g different regions in the UK (Scotland, England, Wales) and the same for other countries then that would be fine. I don't mind people knowing what cityI live in but nothing beyond that.

Way I would do it, make it an opt-in system and it shows where there are members on the forum but doesn't show name?
