It also means being with your loved ones and family and friends. Gifts shouldn't be the priority as many families doesn't get anything for Christmas :(
I always say , '' As long as my family is healthy , happy and that they are with me, this is a precious gift for me that I will always be grateful to have '' :)

So gift are important to you?
It's about giving and receiving and being with your loved ones at the birth of baby jesus

It was a joke. I am on agreement with you
er yes it does without gifts you wouldn't be half as happy THEY BRING JOY TO THE OCCASION
obviously along with all the other good stuff like family, food, drink, movies etc.
christmas to me is a collection of all the best things in life xxxxx
also i'm always around my family and loved ones so there needs to be something to separate it from an ordinary day

The issue is it has been too commercialised and kids are brought up expecting gifts at Christmas.

without gifts there would be no santa and without santa there would be no rudolph and without rudolph THERE IS NO CHRISTMAS
I'm a total Scrooge at Christmas, I think it's to do with the fact I am always ill around Christmas. I've either got flu or a nasty cold/cough and everything around that time becomes totally pointless.
Gifts are my favourite part of Christmas, I'm not going to sit here and pretend they aren't. I think now though, I prefer giving gifts rather than receiving them

Gifts aren't close to mean Christmas
Christmas = Jesus Birthday
Gifts, drink, food, that's all nothing.

anyway ppl saying gifts mean nothin rly annoy me, christmas isnt only about receiving gifts but also about GIVING gifts, i like to give gifts to show my love and also like getting gifts because it means theyve thought about me and what would make me happy... surely thats important and part of the christmas spirit

no it's about a lot of things
anyway i see my family a hell of a lot, so like cameron said, w/o gifts, decorations and movies it just would seem 'ordinary'.
although gifts make me extremely anxious (esp. giving them. i mean i know my gift is fabulous but i still worry that it won't be good enough) and opening them is just as bad because i am gr8ful for everything and usually really love the majority but my face usually looks :l so people don't think i like it/appreciate it when i really do

The MAIN reason of Christmas is about celebrating the birth of baby jesus :P and the wise men giving the gifts and thats essentially where the giving of gifts at christmas got commercialized, its unfortunate that alot of people forget that, even if they don't celebrate it.
