Do you have perfect hearing?

They say every human should be able to hear from 20Hz to 20khz - now to alot of people them figures will mean nothing, however it is basically the frequencies from low bass tones to high squeals.

At this link : http://onlinetonegenerator.com/hearingtest.html you can test your own hearing; can I just say if you are to do it you must wear headphones at a comfortable volume - Not too loud; this can cause danger to your hearing.

Why does hearing get effected? why can I not hear 20hz-20khz?
As you get older your hearing decays, meaning high frequencies (the highest frequencies - 17,000-20,000Hz) and maybe even the lowest (0-3000Hz) arent recognised.
Hearing can also be effected by loud music, constantly. Or regular live concerts!

Test your hearing and post your answers below, if you like :)

I'll start.

My Highest Frequency that I can hear is : 16,996. Just under 17,000Hz.

Which tbh is fine, however seeing as I want to go into Sound for a living - I need to look after my hearing!

15,900...

I did this back in Year 7 and got the highest value in the class, but age is a definite factor in this test, the older you are, the lower your value...

Age certainly is the factor; hearing deteriorates :(((

It's like when someone plays a high pitch squeal - you won't hear it, but younger people will be like omfg staaahp!

19,186 until silence. My hearing is still pretty good I guess. I'm sure I used to have problems with my hearing as a child, unless I faked that... probably.

Stop when you can no longer hear any sound.

Loud Music? Gigs? Anything to cause it?

Been to a few gigs but don't really listen to loud music, don't ever use headphones. Just surprised because I would say I'm dependent on my ears in shows and stuff :P

Some sound cards actually boost high end, so should make it easier to hear that top end 17,000-20,000hz
