A helicopter, thought to be a police aircraft, has crashed into a pub on the banks of the River Clyde in Glasgow.
The crash happened at the Clutha Vaults in Stockwell Street.
Jim Murphy, shadow development secretary, said there had been multiple injuries and reported a "pile of people" clambering out of a pub.
Images of the crash on social media sites showed the dark blue helicopter on the roof with yellow "POLICE" insignia on part of the wreckage.
The Police Roll of Honour Trust tweeted "Our thoughts are with the crew of @policescotland SP99 helicopter that has crashed in Glasgow - hoping everyone is alright."

Further this, unfortunately 1 person has been confirmed dead but BBC have been told at least 3 are dead.
Couldn't have really happened on a worse time, Friday night before St. Andrews Day, pub must have been packed :(

I've got a long list of family in glasgow. Incredibly unlikely they'd be there though.
Three are dead so far, what a shame. I hope everyone else is doing OK. :(
edit: apparently to the post above there's six now :(

Monday afternoon and it might have been a different story with the pub being empty or very near to empty but it's sad that it happened at the time it did - hopefully that number doesn't rise any more :(
Edit: Someone I know witnessed this and is a bit of an aviation geek. Says it was abnormally low and there wasn't a lot of movement in the rotors or sound from them. 15 seconds later there was a loud bang.
Hopefully the casualties are few and then they can work on finding out why it happened to stop it happening again.

I see this helicopter all the time, seen it on Thursday actually.
Very weird this happening and that they attempted to land where they did. There's a carpark just up the road, Glasgow Green which is a huge park and various other bits of land. After hearing from a avaition expert on BBC News, I feel the pilot might of thought that the top of the roof was flat ground and it being at nearly half past ten at night might of affected the judgement.
But I suppose what's happened has happened and we need to think about the people that were injured or died last night. Hopefully the deaths are lower than the 6 that Sky News have reported from their sources. R.I.P to those who have passed and hope everyone else has a speedy recovery.

Three people inside the helicopter and five people inside The Clutha were killed after the Police Scotland aircraft came down at 22:30 on Friday.
A further 14 people are being treated for "very serious injuries" in hospitals across the city.

Glasgow crash helicopters grounded by Bond Air Services
Bond Air Services has suspended flights of its EC 135 helicopter, the same model which crashed on to The Clutha bar in Glasgow, killing nine people.
The grounding comes after a fault was discovered on a EC 135 operated by Bond for the North West Air Ambulance.
Some 22 UK air ambulances and police force helicopters will be affected.
The EC 135 operated by Police Scotland came down on the busy Clutha bar at 22:25 on 29 November. Its three crew and six people in the pub were killed.
