I was gonna post this but wasn't sure.
It's been confirmed and I was shocked, totally unexpected, he was only 40.
I loved his work in F&F, that raises questions on what they will do with the saga if they were already filming the 7th part with Jason Statham. I'm saddened to read these news, we'll miss hip; R.I.P

This is really sad news. He was a great actor and seemed like a nice enough guy. Sending positive thoughts and prayers to his friends and family. May he R.I.P.

Apparently the Porsche he was in (driven by a friend) is notorious when it comes to handling so it may have been entirely an accident rather than doing a bit of drag racing, as the rumour mill seems to be suggesting. Such a shame as he seems a decent enough actor (omitting F&F which is pretty awful, but not due to him). Hopefully the impact was kinder to him than the fuel tank rupturing causing a fire, those details do not sound very comforting :/

It'll be interesting to see the cause of the crash, because that does seem like a massive impact for a 35 mph zone... Let's hope it was a mechanical issue.

what?
He had a huge influence on lots of people but especially the car culture world. Like I said above, he's one of the main reasons I'm into cars and why I chuck thousands into it yearly.
I probably wouldn't even have much of an interest if it wasn't for the F&F series.
Ironic...
R.I.P, he seems like a decent actor even tho F&F is crap

people only care about celebs when they are dead... pathetic he was a actor in a film which involved cars.. im sure car racers and stuff can av a bigger influence on people rather then actors...

cause not one life is worthy of more sympathy than the other? just coz he's famous doesn't mean he deserves less respect and just because the other guy isn't famous doesn't mean he deserves more respect? especially as THE DRIVER was responsible for killing the both of them lol... sick of ppl using that excuse.

Not necessarily. I can't find any source that has definitely said the car did not have a mechanical fault - every site is being unhelpful and only states "that lost control" but some woman apparently saw black smoke coming from the car before they crashed so there isnt rlly a way to definitely prove it was the driver's fault.

The star of 'The Fast and the Furious' movie franchise and a friend identified as Roger Rodas died in Southern California after the Porsche they were in crashed violently into a tree, his rep confirmed to the Daily News. Police said speed was a factor.

From 3 other sources I checked I got "may have been a factor" :P
Actually why were they originally unsure surely youd have it on cctv?
Kardan

Speed can still be a factor if there was a mechanical fault... I mean, if there's a mechanical fault with a car, you're only going to die if the car is going too fast. If your brakes fail at 10mph, generally, you're going to be okay. There's no proof that the driver was at fault yet.

I never said race drivers don't have an influence, they probably have the same and if not more influence on people.
I'm speaking from my experience and pretty much anyone in the modified car scene. The F&F series made skylines, supras, rx7s etc much more popular than they would have been if it wasn't for the series. PW stands out because in the movies he was the Japanese enthusiast as well as genuinely being a big fan of Japanese cars irl. Not to mention the Japanese car culture is probably one of the biggest modified car scenes in UK and America right now.
Seriously though, your coming across as way too arrogant

I heard that the Camera (or whatever that Porsche is) generally has terrible grip based on being rear wheel drive, having lots of power, no weight to it etc. Apparently the skid marks that lead up to the crash look very dodgy - as if he was applying lots of power which led to it spinning out of control. It's always a problem when having these sorts of cars in really urbanised areas :/
I wasn't going to post and get involved, however I am going to.
May both Paul Walker and Roger Rodas rest in piece.
Both men did die, the reason Paul is getting more attention is because like myself people have been watching his movies from a young age and he has become a household name...
Look, regardless of what happened - no matter who's at fault, two people are dead and I agree we only know because they're famous, but it's still a shame.
A street race probably did happen, after all both characters were known to like speed, thrills and all that - Paul admitted loads of these things in interviews. However, they still did not deserve to die.
That's all I've got.

On the news says could be possible the steering fluid was leaking...
And what would this mean? I don't know much about cars, so to me that suggests that steering wouldn't work? Why wouldn't you then break?
And how do you even find out that steering fluid was leaking before the crash? I can imagine it definitely leaking afterwards with the state of the car.

Erm, well apparently he didn't attempt to swerve or anything. Said there was the fluid all down the road.

If that's the case, that's pretty strange then. Surely as soon as you realise you lose steering you slam on your brakes? If that's the case, surely that suggests he was going at some speed initially to have a crash so big.

Yeh, I don't disagree with that. It's said to be a street racers road.

I guess it shows even the confident/trained drivers shouldn't be dangerous.
News article about the brake fluid.

The bit at the bottom of the article is a bit silly to say. Even world class drivers make mistakes. They are not machines.

Yeh, I agree, but im sure if he had control (and what ever didn't go wrong) he may of been able to change the ending.

Oh no that's entirely truthful. Have you noticed that there are no accidents in racing, ever? Do a Google search, there have been 0 crashes and accidents resulting from a rally, formula 1 or other professional driver having an accident since time immemorial :P
It's so tedious seeing newspapers pretending to try and make sense of the circumstances leading to the accident, and then saying nonsense to try and sound legitimate. Professional drivers can't crash their cars? What a load of bullocks.
