Hey guys.. .what kind of laptops / computers do you guys all have? Would you recommend it?
This is what I currently have..
MacBook Pro Late 2011
Screen 15-Inch (1680 x 1050)
Processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
I'm looking to upgrade.
I want to be able to run applications such as Minecraft, Sims, Flight Simulator X, Train Simulator 2014, etc. I do not want an Apple product. Preference for a laptop over a desktop computer and basically I want to improve on most if not all technical specifications as I listed above.
My price range is $1,000 to $3,000. What do you recommend and is it what you currently have?

You won't need something very powerful for the games you've mentioned, even onboard graphics would suit you fine. Get a Lenovo Yoga 13 or something, I have one and it's great!

I could run Crysis with medium settings on Intel HD 3000 graphics at an acceptable framerate. Those games are nowhere near as graphically advanced, and FSX is mainly CPU based. The onboard graphics of the Lenovo yoga are HD 4000 and would be more than enough for those games. Also FSX wouldn't be a problem for an i5, even the mobile version.

Have you ever tried running FSX on low spec systems?

Don't forget the addons, hell it might make the default base installation of FSX playable. But if you are going to get into FSX then you would install addons (aircraft, scenery) etc

I used to play it on a system with 512MB of RAM and an AMD 64 1.8Ghz processor. An i5 and onboard HD 4000 graphics would be absolutely fine if you didn't have the need to max everything out.

I guess you didn't install any addons (PMDG for example) or detailed scenery...

It's true.. it's because I've got this mac and haven't been bothered to do much about it.
Maybe I should ask, what would allow me for maxed out graphics, scenery, everything and still make it a smooth and beautiful game? :)

PMDG? I will have to look into that when I get a new laptop or desktop computer then :)
Well, what do you recommend then? :)

Money, and definitely a proper GPU (for a desktop PC) over a mobile one.

which one of the 3 gamer packs should I go for? This website is complicated, but they are local and cheap :P Could be worth trying to figure out!
I just bought a Lenovo y510p gaming laptop a couple of months ago, upgraded from a 13 inch macbook pro. It's amazing and I'll never go back to macs again.
