View Full Version : Do you enjoy christmas (general convo)

So its that festive time of year again... most off us love Christmas :D and i know i certainly do! but i think everyone has good and bad views of the festive occasion. I love Christmas because its a day to spend with the family and i enjoy spending time to put the tree up, However i find the shopping stressful as you don't want to disappoint and you feel bad if you spend less on someone when they spent more on you :( so i wanted to know what you think of Christmas and if you have good points and bad points of the occasion :P
( PLEASE EXCUSE ANY MISTAKES I HAVE MADE )

Generally I like Christmas. I love buying gifts for people and love receiving them too as stuck up as that sounds. It's just fun.
I also love putting up the tree and seeing all the christmas lights of houses when I walk home from the gym most nights.
The only thing I really dislike is the heat and the constant will for my family to spend Christmas on the beach ugh.
I don't really like Christmas.. I like getting people presents and seeing their reaction if I get them something good. Otherwise not really.. I don't really like receiving presents.. much rather give.

I love Christmas. It's so nice spending it with Jake first and having our food together, opening presents, eating junk, watching films. I love later on going up to my mums and giving presents there and getting some too. For me it's just the thought that counts and I enjoy it. I love the whole closeness I feel when we all come together and especially love when we begin playing board games! So much fun.

I love Christmas, it is a time when you get a massive break from school/ uni etc.
But I also like giving and receiving presents, it is fun.
I do admit however, Christmas isn't as fun now as to when I was a kid.
I love cracking bon bons and putting tinsel everywhere and pretty lights.
Such a nice time of the year.
It's Christmas timeeeeeeeee!

I do enjoy it, but I enjoyed it a hell of a lot more when I had all my family around me. The past few years has been a bit different though so it's not been quite the same.

I enjoy the general atmosphere but **** seems to happen around Christmas for my family and I and since those times, it's never really been the same.

I love Christmas and get very excited leading up to Christmas. But it definitely has its downside.
My biggest disappointment this year is that it’s mine and my fiancé’s first Christmas since getting engaged and I wanted to wake up on Christmas morning with him and so on as we’ve never spent a Christmas day together and we’ve been together since June 2009. We both still live with our parents while we get through uni, and my parents invited him to stay, he lives with us half of the time anyway and is always welcome. But his parents arranged for him to spend Christmas with them and his aunt and so on which I guess is fair enough but no one even bothered to asked us what we’d like to do and how we felt about it. And now he can’t even come for Christmas dinner. So for our first Christmas as a betrothed couple I get to see him for Christmas day evening. And he has told me he’d rather be here with me, but we want to please everyone else. Story of our lives :P But no, really sad about this :(
Other downs are;
I always feel like death on Christmas morning, I don’t know if it’s because I’m a big kid and all the excitement/ lack of sleep gets to me.
I have a friend who always insists on us exchanging gifts and lets me down every time by saying she ran out of cash. Nice to know I’m bottom of her list and I’m the one who is always there for her. Very one sided friendship. She’s already admitted this year she ran out of money after she let me go out and buy her gift.
I always overspend at Christmas because I love to spoil all of my family. They do so much for me and I really want to get everyone something special. Overspent on my budget by £200 this year. Skint now and there’s some stuff I’d really like to treat myself too. I guess this is okay they. I'd rather spend on others :)
The good things are though;
Everyone is happy and it’s a nice family time. I love spending time with my family.
Like I said, I love to spoil people and see their happy faces.
I get a break from coursework/ exam revision for a couple of days.
The same Christmas songs make it feel like Christmas when I was a kid.
Pigs in blankets. Enough said. Oh, and chocolate. Not together though.
Presents!!!!
Doctor Who Christmas Special!
And much more!
Love that I wrote an essay compared to everyone else! My bad.

lol aww but maybe u and Aiden can have your own Christmas Day together after the official one :P don't see my boyfriend until the 30th so ive had longer to get gifts lol. as for your friend, what my group does is a secret Santa and we all buy one person a gift, so everyone gets :)
I don't usually enjoy it but this year has been good for me and for xmas it's gonna be more than just me, my mum and brother all day and my mum actually has xmas day off so will feel proper christmassy yay. altho my fave day is Christmas Eve cause i go to my brothers, give them gifts then see all my friends to exchange gifts and get merrily drunk. Christmas Eve nights out are tradition here and Christmas dinner = best hangover cure.

It's not a friendship group. We did Secret Santa at college but since everyone went off to uni we've lost touch. This friend dropped out of school and I've always made the effort to speak to her and see her as much as possible. We don't live all that close. But she never wants to put in the effort but still expects me to- and I aim to please. Meh.
I get Aiden all day on the 26th and 27th so I'm sure we'll be fine. Just takes that magical edge off a little :P

No. I would, except most people are exceptionally ignorant at this time of the year; and believe Christmas ends come Boxing Day (which is actually Saint Stevens Day for the unenlightened). Also the focus seems to always be on gifts, which is sad but what can be expected in this world now.
It's hard being the only religious person in your family.
