View Full Version : Biggest problem with fansites

Ever since TH made it's birth, I have seen the most ridiculous & most pointless fansite names of all time. I'm sitting here for the past 2-3 years thinking, why..... why even call your own fansite that? Half of them "can" get away with it, but don't. This is what I mean..

For an example, if you have a fansite called Hab-Power.. pretty much every owner would make it, but the logo, design.. everything, has nothing to do with "power". It's like making a Christmas fansite without a single graphic design to do with Christmas. ALWAYS base your logo's, graphics & skin designs on the name of your site.. otherwise don't bother with the fansite at all.
Doing this will not only be normal like any other site out there, but it gives your fansite personality, an atmosphere that is based on the name of your fansite.

Another ex, if you have a fansite called Habbo Global, perhaps you want to make the skin or logo something to do with the globe (earth).

In other words, make it or break it!

Yeah, this is why Habbox has Xs and Boxes in all it's logos and stuff.

Habbox isn't pronounced Hab-box or Habbo X. A few can get away with it like Habbox, Habbohub, HFFM & such.. but with a name like ShineHabbo, Hab-Power & such.. different story.

It's only because they're established. Back in the day habbodown was a genuinely really good, popular fansite.

I'm so confused. Isn't it just Hab-box?

Not Hab-ox.

Sounds like a promo for them ox cube things.

No, it's Hab-Ox / Hab-Box (Both sound identical to me), not Habbo / X.

everyone says it differently haha but yeah hab ox is how most of us do!!

Disagree with OP here though, fansites don't have a problem because their logos don't match their name, but that they're new, often with poor organisation/design because of the lack of (specialist) people, and often a lack of staff too. It's nice to have logos that sort of reflect the name but won't magically make your site better....

Back in the day, an Aussie fansite called Habbo Paradise. It was probably more popular than any other fansite around back in 06 & early 07. The design/layout, skin, graphics, even threads with banners & emoticons & such, it was all based on something to do with "paradise/tropical". HabboHut back in the day was pretty good on this also, everything they had made it felt like a "hut". Having a fansite with a name like ShineHabbo, Habbopod, Flyhabbo & not having a single thing based on the name of the site practically makes the domain name pointless. Especially within the past couple of years as every fansite that is made now days are all the exact same. Same skins, same forums, same staff groups with the same colours.. pretty much everything.

haha I laughed at this thread. 1. It's definitely pronounced hab-ox, habb-ox, ha-box (all sound the same) 2. Just because the fansite is named like global or power, doesn't really mean they have to have something like that in the graphics, we don't have boxes scattered all over the place or oxens!

We do now @e5 (http://www.habboxforum.com/member.php?u=30040)

O/T - when I say it, I pronounce it Hab-ox, but when I split it up into syllables (like, saying 1 syllable at a time) i say Hab box. But that's just me. So looks like we need a box here too.

It's Hab-box, but you don't emphasise both B's, just the one. Ha-box might be a better way of showing it.
