View Full Version : would you like to know the day you're going to die?
if you had the option to find out would you? if not, why?

i remember hearing a quote a long the lines of
"i wouldn't mind knowing how or when i'm going to die 'cause then atleast I know i'd live through everything else"
i think it was in the movie big fish
i thought that was quite a cool little quote
however, realistically I dont think I would, I don't think i'd enjoy the years just before the day i die & if it turned out I'm destined to die in the next few years I'd go insane

I would like to know.
i wouldn't
i think i'd spend most of my time thinking of ways to cheat it instead living everyday like normal

absolutely not. My whole motto in life is that you don't know what tomorrow will be like so you've always got something to look forward to. knowing when you're going to die would just ruin that like a huge burden on your shoulders. Knowing when and not knowing how would make you a nervous wreck, like watching final destination and wondering if moving this tea towel will mean I'll be dead soon. Knowing how would also make you a nervous wreck so yeah it's a lose-lose situation, best not knowing anything about it.
Nooo I don't think I'd like to know. I guess you could say "I have all this things to do before I die" but anticipating it would be awful

I don't know, I don't think I'd like to know when to be fair - although I'd know I should live my life until that point, I'd probably still sit doing nothing and make myself miserable because of it.

I would like to know, but if I did then I would probably plan my whole life around it instead of taking each day as it comes.

No, I think i would be living in fear and wouldn't enjoy the last few years of my life if i knew. I'd be constantly worried for my health and try to do anything and everything to prevent the inevitable. Might as well not be living if that was the case:L

No because if I did I'd start to count down everyday and probably just become an all round mess!

Reminds me of the book The Hit by Melvin Burgess. It was a good read, but after it I'd say I definitely wouldn't want to know.

Nope, I do not think that I would like to know that.
The last couple of days before it would happen I'd turn in to an emotional mess and those days would be completely wasted. At least having the mystery of not knowing allows you to live every day like its your last one, if you so choose.
