i dont know how anyone can care about this sort of ****

like all of those artists, you already know about so i honestly dont understand the point in giving them awards

it'd be good if there was an award ceremony on this scale that actually gave awards to the not-so-known bands that are very good but dont get enough recognition so then people looking for new artists to get into could check the winners out

It's about celebrating the past year of music. Some artists work SO hard, and they deserve recognition. I totally understand why they do it, and I'm glad they do.

Going into Music myself, winning awards could be the most rewarding part of your career. Knowing that you're doing something well, because money doesn't tell you that.

your fans tell you that, even money tells you that
you're doing something right if you're getting love from your fans
you're doing something right if you're selling albums and selling out concerts, people wouldnt buy your music if it didn't bring them joy

fixed awards don't, who votes on these things anyway?

These awards seem so outdated these days. It just seems like forcing a load of mainstream singers down peoples throats because they're perceived to be good when really it's subjective. You could anlyse them all objectively and see who needs auto-tune or other assistance when singing and deduce that those ones are not worthy of awards while others are, those who write their own songs, make a good beat or even good singing live (Muse won awards in this category in the past)

Anyway, my thoughts on each nominates in the spoiler.

British Male Solo Artist
Literally no idea who these men are :P

British Female Solo Artist
Ellie Goulding - only one to sing live and not scream like a certain Jessie J

British Group
Bastille

British Breakthrough Act
Bastille

Critics' Choice
Would have voted for Sam Smith anyway

British Single
Naughty Boy Feat. Sam Smith - 'La La La' (Pompeii is good but seems really old now)

Mastercard British Album Of The Year
Bastille - 'Bad Blood'

International Male Solo Artist
Eminem

International Female Solo Artist
Pink

International Group
Not sure - pretty sure Daft Punk's latest, greatest hit is just one of their old tracks with a different beat - plus you can mishear the lyrics for comedic value.
