I just remembered I won a Clearasil comp last year and Sulake was meant to email me asking for my postal address and they never did. I asked Powertoo during the time of the comp when I would receive the email and she said wait a little longer.

http://www.habbo.com/groups/382180/id (See the sticky noting runners-up get a small prize)

http://www.habbo.com/articles/2954-clearasil-competition-winner-and-runners-up

In the terms and condition it says this:

Judging Criteria: Originality and creativity on the best question asked to the VJ will win
Prize Determination: 13:00 hours AEST on Thursday 19th August, 2013 at the offices of the Promoter.

Notification: By email on Monday 30th August, 2013.
Claim Period: Within 21 working days of the Notification.

I still have not received any email notification and thus the claim period has not begun.

I have emailed customer support today but given their track record in understanding very basic questions I have posed it does not look hopeful. Has anyone been in a similar situation where they have not given a real life prize and remedied the problem with Sulake somehow?

- - - Updated - - -

The prize pack is only worth about 20 AUD so I am not overly bothered about not getting it, but I am bothered that it appears Sulake is trying to sweep it under the rug, they removed links to the article too it took forever to find..

AND they have not selected a winner for the second major Clearasil competition so I am not sure what happened.

Habbo was bad enough when badges were manually handed out, let alone real life prizes. x_x

I think the best you can do is keep at Customer Services, bothered or not there's principle involved.

I agree with Shortages;

You just have to keep pushing them until they reply with something moderately relevant. They're a big(ish) company and should stick to their word, not well scam?

Happened to me before all this modern stuff happened - after 30 days has passed they just close them all and refuse to do anything, so I wouldn't keep your hopes up. If they are scamming prizes though, that's quite bad and could probably warrant a proper report on it coughnewscough

When I won a real life prize, I didn't get the email either. I ended up sending a message through the help tool asking my message to be forwarded to the hotel manager - and they did just that. Got an email from him later that week - but a lot have things have changed since then, so who knows.

LOL yeah I won a pair of trainers back in 2009 and they robbed them but I didn't even appeal because I couldn't care less. It was worth like £70.

Yeah can't you try and take legal action if they refuse to give you your prize for any decent reason. I obviously don't recall Sulake's T & Cs but I'll be highly skeptical if there's actually a clause which allows them to just not give you prizes.

But yeah least 3/4 people in this thread have claimed they haven't received a prize and you are pretty much owed it, so I guess legal action is an option eventually.

That plus the other 3 incidents/4 people have posted in here. It's not the value of the item that's the issue, it's the fact Sulake have promised users something and refused to give it to them... but if you find that hilarious then cool lol

I've already stated, it's not necessary the value but the number of times Sulake have promised X and not given X. I'm actually probably sure people have complained over lesser monetary value items irl also.

In the Clearasil one? not sure. I would hope it's decent quality stuff if it's worth $20.

Do you even know yourself Daltron? I presume you must if you know the value.

i know what you're saying and i'd do it over something of higher value but with this i wouldn't really waste my breath

You should definitely take further legal action if they still don't do anything after your email to customer support. I've been considering the same thing but with yours the evidence is a lot more solid and you're definitely in the right. Only $20 or not, Sulake has no right to hold back the prize. What did you have to do for the competition?

You can find information about the runner up prize under the prizes section in terms and condition.

------------------- jack; Hayden;

A law suit claiming damages for the spot cream on it's own would probably not get far, but if there was a class action by several of us who had not received prizes and we attempted to claim punitive damages for long-term consumer negligence then we are looking at something viable.

Sulake owes us a duty of care to carry out the contract entered into upon submission in the competition, they then broke this duty to us the consumer by failing to carry out the contract and finally if we can prove damages of ANY kind resulting from this breach then Sulake is certainly liable to reward damages (the amount depending on jurisdiction).

Hypothetically if Kardan; Hidden; or myself had suffered any form of damage from not receiving our prizes physical or mental then Sulake is completely liable to reward damages in a class action as we all fall under similar circumstances.

I know it's extreme lol, but just saying legal action is not completely irrelevant.

I will keep updating this thread along the way when I get responses from Sulake in my ticket to them so their response is publicly available for future reference.

Not really, Sulake had transferred all responsibility of my prize to the company in charge by the time I didn't get my prize :P

Have received a response!

Hello,

Thanks for contacting Habbo.

We are sorry to hear that you haven't received your prize yet. We have contacted the department in charge of this section, and hopefully we will have the prize with you soon. When we hear what is happening we will update you with the information.

Best,

File a BBB.org complaint. I'm pretty sure it would work. Takes a while most of the time but it does.

I will give them 30 days to initiate a claim period as per the terms of the competition and for good faith that they will follow through the help ticket response. No response in a month BBB.org will be my next step I suppose

Well it never came.

I contacted them again and they said Clearasil was not complying with their request.
Instead they are giving me 1 months Builders Club and 1 furni of my choice.

That only took 9 months. At least I am finally getting something ~

FYI if you don't get your IRL prize, keep bugging them.

Seems clearasil have some management problems and don't know whether they're coming or they're going. It's good Habbo have taken their problem into their own hands and are offering you bc membership and a furni of your choice. I'd recommend you go for something exclusive and unreleased.. unless you've already chosen :D
