No idea how these polls were carried out or the methodology and i'm not going to check either as they're pretty pointless polls - but nevertheless, here's a bit of a fun read.

As I have been posting them there's been more sets released for country after country, so if you want to see the polls from Indonesia and whoever else then simply click on this Twitter feed - https://twitter.com/electionista

I'm surprised to see Obama so high considering you'd of thought people would have seen through him now and the same goes for Nicholas Sarkozy who was very unpopular only a year or so ago, not surprised to see Her Majesty so high (the benefit of having a constitutional monarchy is that she always outpolls elected politicians) and really surprised to not see Ron Paul on the US list considering how Marine Le Penn and Nigel Farage are on the French and British lists. Also surprised at how high the Pope is on so many of the lists although I suspect living in a protestant country like our own we don't pay as much attention to the Vatican as other nations do.

Again not a serious poll, no idea how it was conducted but there you go. :)

Most people haven't really associated Obama as a person to what the USA government does on a whole and really, the average Joe probably doesn't keep up with the news a whole load and only saw a couple of "inspirational" speeches. So Obama being so high doesn't really shock me. Along with the current Pope. I don't think it's more to do with who follows him, but more the fact he's started to act less like some divine character and wants to do more good than his predecessor. Really, the only list that surprises me is China but the rest I can understand (for the names I recognise, anyway).

Very cool thread. I'd be interested in seeing what people Canadians admire the most. I'd say Sidney Crosby would make the list for sure hahaha and probably a couple of other hockey players too :-P

Carl Barron should be on top of Australia's list tbh.
