View Full Version : Habbo in the past few years?
I haven't played habbo at all in the past 3 years, apart from occasionally logging in to see what it looks like. I was wondering whether someone could kind of summarize any major changed that may have happened in that time, since I barely even recognize the client anymore. Has much changed, apart from the UI? Oh and what's with the website, and fansites? It seems like the website's been compressed a lot, there's no more forums and there doesn't really seem to be 'official' fansites anymore.
Oh and what's with all the HC badges? Before I left, I traded all of my furni for credits and just bought heaps of HC/VIP membership. Now I have 3 different styles of HC badges, each on a different level and not in the right order.
Sorry for the stupid request, but if anyone could help that would be great.

Well in 2011 there was a big name reset and inactive usernames were deleted. A new generated of douchebags were born.
They got rid of HC and brought in VIP then replaced VIP with nuHC. (Basically the same with bad furni and bad badges)
We got this new CEO Paul who failed to fix the ongoing moderation problem before Channel 4 did an external investigation and found sexual abuse. This was publicised around the world and user base went down, hotel was muted for a good while and this was meant to change the sex stuff happening within Habbo.
Fansites now days are money hungry and usually leak user information etc. Fansites during the Grecian9 era (ex fansite manager) allowed pretty much any website to become official, even Tumblr blogs. Following this was the introduction of dodgy fansites.
Whilst all this is happening there was like 3/4 different UI's being pushed into the client which didn't look pretty but was fixed a month or so ago when the current UI was streamlined in. I know it's a bit messy now but it is VERY efficient for the amount of information going on.
I am sure there is 100 other things that have happened but they are the main things I can think that you may be interested in.

Habbo's definitely not what it used to be. The flow of people and decent rooms has dwindled. There was a merger that combined a couple Habbo servers. Didn't seem to work with increasing numbers. 'Back in the day', having the highest rated room meant something... Now the fourth highest room named 'lol' is empty.
Achievements have become near impossible to obtain full 20/20 badge. Rooms have been created to help these impossible tasks. AFK Boosters allow repetitive gain of points for a few game badges. Come on, logging in for 335 days in a row? Spend 138,240 minutes (95 days) on Habbo? Unsure if you can be called cool or not to have full badge achievements lol
Casinos and Armys have apparently taken over. Trying to get into the sino scene... I've seen tens of thousands of $ invested into these pixels! Least this will keep habbo alive, barely.
My only comfort is the 18+ rooms have stuck around!

Habbo will always change, whether we don't want it to or not. We only have to get used to how it is.

Damn, I was not expecting that. I'm surprised I didn't hear anything about it, it sounds like a pretty big deal.
And the changes with fansites... wow, I don't know why they would do that. Back in the day, the official fansites were great, and it helped generate such a loyal fanbase with habbo.

Yeah, this is the biggest change i have noticed. There's no variety in popular rooms, and there seems to be considerably less people hanging out in guest rooms. And I can't believe what they've done with badges! they used to mean something, but now you login and suddenly your granted 15 achievement badges; although this was a much more gradual change, badges went downhill years ago.
events is gone
news articles gone and come back
new client layout
user profiles in client
stupid new filter system
cant tink of any more

I hate how it has changed. We have to get used to it if we still play it.
