I found this interesting the other day when I came across it on my Twitter feed, basically an updated map of the situation in Syria today. Pretty much a stalemate has arisen:

Said it before and i'll say it again: it's a non-country that needs to be broken up along different cultural/religious/ethnic lines.

It's not great quality so makes it difficult to read but an interesting find nevertheless!

The problem with breaking up countries or groups is that they will just end fighting each other to claim the key areas. Even though they are separate, they're fighting for total control or at least control of strategic areas.

I am not sure if it would fix the situation if you divided them. It would just cause more controversy and you would always get people intruding to claim what they want. It would be a disaster.

That's a good point, but ultimately it would settle down. Just look at Europe - the great nations of Europe were fought through wars and conquest - that's just the way history is and always will be. As recent as the 1990s Europe has war over borders.

But keeping them within the same country when they cannot stand one another is even worse. At least when they are seperate they have more freedom to do what they want. Keeping them together is like placing Britain and France under the same country during the Battle of Waterloo.

It may have helped having all the royal families sleep with each other, too :P You can't really do that with republics and these sorts of nations, mainly because they do it with their own citizens while in wedlock or there would be a battle over who is dominance. That said, sex solves everything! If it worked in the obvious documentary of Ali G In Da House where he got them all high and it each other, then it will certainly work with northern Africa and the middle east. In fact, just get them taking drugs and settling it through that.
