Cliff Hanging - Ends 31st January

The other day I went to go and see The Hobbit 2 and I left really angry because I am a huge fan of it, but since I haven't read the books I don't know what happens. They ended it on a really mean cliff hanger and it's so harsh of them to make us wait a year before bringing out the third film. It also got me thinking about how directors or writers use cliff hangers to make people want to watch their next films. However they come up with them, it's effective!

For this competition, I'd like you to think of the best way you can leave a film on a cliff hanger to make people want to watch the sequel.

Well you could have the main character investigating something big, and only to find herself in a recording do the bad thing, or actually see a clone of herself and leave it at the both of them in a wide angle shot then cut to credits.

Have someone slip on a banana then all of a sudden a giant shadow of a minion comes out of nowhere shouting "BANANAAAAAAAAAAAAA" in a really creepy voice, then cut to the credits.

A couple have been together for years, done everything with each other, then suddenly one of them find out they have a kid from another person and they're on the hunt for the kid to kill/meet/whatever.

Yeah a huge explosion and you think the main character is dead and they take him to the place they take dead bodies but then at the start of the next movie he's actually been drugged and the villains are going to try and bury him alive but the viewers just think the next movie is going to be how people cope with their death!

I think an ending that would make me the most anxious of is one of a thriller/action movie. A husband and wife, after running from a psychopathic killer, are sitting in a newly renovated apartment, approximately 300 miles from where they were being attacked, getting a knock at the door. As they move closer to the door, you hear a low creepy voice saying.. "I know you're in there..." And then the husband and wife turn to each other with a "oh poop" kind of look.. then it cuts.
