Should the RMS Titanic be raised?

Over a hundred years ago now, the famous ship the unsinkable Titanic hit an iceberg and sank in the icy north Atlantic waters after making a uncompleted trip from Great Britain to America. On board, over a thousand died and went down with the ship and the wreck sits in two large pieces at the bottom of the ocean many thousands of feet deep underwater in the dark. On board, fine china, furniture, clothing and the remains of people sit waiting to be rediscovered - as some have.

However the ship, having been made of cast iron, is slowly being eaten and rotted away as sea creatures eat away at the thick hull which means the ship is increasingly becoming in danger of collapsing into a heap of iron at the bottom of the sea. The question is, and it's been debated many times by experts: should an attempt be made at raising the ship before it is too late to do so due to the increasingly poor state the is in?

An argument for would say that yes, the wreck is an important historical artefact and should be raised like many other famous wrecks have been - this would also result in the preservation of many of the items aboard the ship for future generations. The argument against would say that this ship is a graveyard at the bottom of the ocean and should not be disturbed out of respect for the victims of the disaster.

So what do you think? Should she be raised or not?

I'm fairly certain there was a programme on television not so long ago which stated it would be impossible to raise it with the traditional method of filling it up with air as it would break apart. If anything, the most that can be done is picking up the fragments which are more important than the others.

Also, what benefits are there for raising? It's historically interesting, but the effort to raise it just for that seems a waste of resources for what has now become a tomb. It seems a bit disrespectful to raise a ship so many died on for so little a benefit, unless to somehow bring up some artifacts.
