Does Habbo in 2001 count? If not, it'll be Habbo or Hotmail in like 2005/2006, followed by good ol' piczo.

I'm going to give it a guess and to between 2002-2004. I know I was using Habbox and so on in 2004 but I don't know if I had internet access at home before then.

Back when I was around 8-9 and my cousin introduced me to Habbo and I remember we had dial up and it cost a bomb and was so slow. My sister and I were allowed a half hour on Habbo every night and it normally took about ten minutes to load on our connection :P

I joined at home in 2007 (basically 2008 as it was the very back end of December). However, for first time on the Internet I'd still probably say 2007, but at the library :P.

This is the most depressing thread to ever exist so I shall not let anyone get away from it happy err like 97/98 I guess ;|
before half of you were even accidental should-have-swallowed's in the nightmares of those once-happy folks who used to be "your parents"
or probably just Mum and Uncle Dave in some cases

I think it was around 2002-2003. Definitely at least 2003 as I got Hardware Online Arenas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hardware:_Online_Arena) when it was quite new which would've been the late 2002.

We had dial up since about 1998, if not before that when we had a machine running goodness knows what OS (Windows 3.1 I would assume). Not that it made any difference to me personally, at that age I still thought by turning off the monitor you were turning off the computer...

I remember using the internet for things like the blue peter website in the very early days, and school teaching us how to use emails around the same time in 2002.

Every internet video seemed to use real player and you'd have to wait forever for it to buffer a super low res stream!

Remember this:

And when Windows Live Messenger used to look like this:

Until about 2009 every time the phone rang the internet would disconnect, thankfully I managed to persuade my mum to switch to cable!

Long ago, back when you couldn't use the landline at the same time as the internet and the dial-up tune would sound.

My first account I can link back to is 2006 so I probably started in 2005ish. My first internet memory was going to a fake site and downloading a trojan, I wasn't allowed on the internet for a bit after that.

1998 for me. No idea what I was doing. Dad was into computers, we had dial up back when 14.4k was a fast upgrade. Apparently it cost quite a few dollars more for the extra speed - oh dad! Had my first Hotmail account in '99, shano8 which doesn't work anymore and I lost/forgot the password after changing it from 123456. YOU GO BLINGER!

Well you're right in saying those versions still look like that, but that's like me saying "remember what Toyotas looked like in 1960" and you saying that current ones still look like that, which isn't the case.

WMP 9 is not officially available anymore, nor is MSN. Might I add if you believe the current version of windows media player looks the same as WMP9 then you are most mistaken.
