View Full Version : What password manager do you use?

After talking about this to someone on twitter I thought it would interesting to see what sort of password managers users on HabboxForum use if any at all. What I mean is, how do you store your login details for websites you visit? Do you use the built-in browser that remembers the details or do you use a 3rd Party application such as LastPass?
Here is the list of the ones I'm aware of:
Built in "Remember/Saved Password" in your browser
LastPass
1Password
(There is others such as KeyChain that is built into OSX)
I personally use LastPass and have done for a few years now - I like the fact its cross-platform and means I can easily have complex and random generated passwords for all the sites I use.
So what do you use? Or do you just "Remember" your passwords in your head?

all my passwords are random generated. My personal ones for banks and my facebook I know off by heart so I don't keep them on the computer but the rest like for habbo and other sites I keep on a memory stick. I use the built in remember thing on chrome for facebook and hxf and twitter anyway.

I use that KeyChain thingy. I normally just use my memory though, I have like 10 different passwords and a few randoms for more important accounts. :)

anything important has 2 factor authentication(fb, google, twitter, paypal, live account) i dont particularly care if anything else gets hacked (maybe amazon, but that only has a cc linked to it)

How do these password managers work?
If someone guesses that 1 password to the password manager do they have access to all your other passwords?

Yes.
i just use the same pw for every my dogs name (holly) and year i was born 1992
yet to b hacked!
change pw every 2 weeks for sites i use actively and keep pws for other sites committed to memory. gets slightly confusing when i have tons of different habbo accounts for example and stop using them for a while but if i can't remember the pw i usually just scroll through every habbo pw i have until i get it.
never really felt need to store passwords, just feel like it puts you more at risk if all your pws are stored in 1 place lol

Erm I just remember them. I use similar ones on sites i don't care about, but more difficult ones on anything where I'm making a payment or something.
I just remember them
Theres been a time where I only remembered a passwors through finger movements
I couldn't write it down, say it out without imagining i had a keyboard and doing it

Head. I randomly pick a mix of numbers, letters and capitals which resemble the temp ones you get from sites (mixture of letters and digits) and just remember those - they sound nice so that's probably how they're memorable. Some are slightly understandable and resemble words, but they get changed often.

I only know some of them (most important, email, fb, habbo), other ones google chrome saves and remember
just remember them
i use the remember password thingy on twitter and tumblr though but i dont care if anyone goes on them like my mum/stepdad or w.e because idk they arent important to me and have nothing on lol tumblr just has duck pics and twitter is just twitter ;l theres only like 8ish different passwords i need to remember though so isnt too bad
Last pass but I keep forgetting all the details and stuff for the master pw so I need to uninstall and reinstall it lol

Probably due to the fact they like using random generates passwords for each site they use. The programs make it easier to that.

I randomly generate passwords then remember them by using mnemonics, I also have a little red book which I write them down in but I lose it often and then have to reset them...
If xxMATTGxx; can trust a password manager then maybe I can... hmm. DO I TRUST TECHNOLOGIES

I just use my head, although I should probably generate longer random strings to use as passwords. Would never use a password manager on a portable device that could be easily stolen; physical security isn't so much of an issue for a desktop (especially one as heavy as mine), but software security will never be flawless. As long as there's physical access to the machine or the database can be copied off the machine in any way either via physical access or via a back door, all it would take to access it would be a brute force attack.
To overcome any vulnerabilities should your password list be accessed, you could use an enigma simulator (or other method of encryption) to encode all your passwords using a rotor start position (or password) matching all of them - easy enough to remember and nobody will know (a) that it's been encrypted at all, (b) what it's been encrypted with, and (c) the code/password used for the encryption.

1Password is great. It's a bit expensive but well worth the price once you get to using it exclusively.

i use lastpass
the ability to create 100 char passwords and not have to remember them is fun
in an unfun way
Funny story about this thread;
When I saw this thread, I chuckled a little an was gonna comment that I use my head for passwords and don't need an app to do it for me, well- when I was at work today I went to login to my computer and for the life of me, I couldn't remember it. I don't know why, or how I forgot, but it reminded me of this thread. Maybe I should look into some of the comments password savers.
Thought everyone would/could have a laugh today. :)
