Ethiopian Airlines Flight 702 "Hijacked"

I find it crazy that I was reading tweets from over 5 hours ago from people looking at flight radar websites noticing that the aircraft was squawking the hijack code (7500) and no official media outlets picked it up until now (within the last hour or so. So you cold say the internet were the very fist people to be aware of what was going on!

Anyway,

Official Press Release from the airline:



Ethiopian Airlines flight ET-702 on scheduled service departing from Addis Ababa on 17 February 2014 at 00:30 (local time) scheduled to arrive in Rome at 04:40 (local time) was forced to proceed to Geneva Airport. Accordingly, the flight has landed safely at Geneva Airport. All passengers and crew are safe at Geneva Airport.

Ethiopian Airlines is making immediate arrangements to fly its esteemed customers on-board the flight to their intended destinations.

I came on here to ask if it was actually the pilot or whether the BBC article was badly worded. Very unusual.

Sounds like it was one of the pilots but you know what media like. Hell they didn't even know about it until now :P
