There was a super easy technique to do this before they fixed it:

Step one: Enter the room and let it kick you.
Step two: You will see the message box asking you to leave is still there. Don't click it.
Step three: Re-enter the room and quickly click the message box confirming to leave the group that previously popped up.


But yeah, I'm glad they sorted this!
