View Full Version : Can Arsenal Win The Premiership Still?

Referring to the gambling website I use, currently the odds to win the premiership for each team are;

Chelsea 1 in 2.20
Man City 1 in 2.63
Liverpool 1 in 6 chance
Arsenal 1 in 17 chance
Tottenham 1 in 226
Man Utd 1 in 226
Everton 1 in 401

The leaderboard currently shows as;

Chelsea - 63
Liverpool - 59
Arsenal - 59
Man City - 57
Tottenham - 53
Everton - 48
Man UTD - 45

Note that Man City are behind by 2 games and are equal with Chelsea if they were to win both games to catch up.

There's really no hope for every other team, I shouldn't really even be mentioning Man UTD and Everton but anyway.

Arsenal are still yet to play Tottenham, Chelsea, Swansea, Man City, Everton, West Ham, Hull City, Newcastle, West Brom and Norwich.

If Arsenal wins the rest of their games, no matter what happens, Arsenal will win the premiership, If Arsenal fall to Chelsea, then I suppose Chelsea will need to perform poorly and rely on Liverpool playing below par too.

It's just that I've put quite a bit of money on Arsenal to win the premiership, I'm not even going to say how much I could lose or win here but I'm pretty scared haha :S

Let me find out for you.

Edit: Just come back from the future, Chelsea win by 2 points after beating Cardiff on the final day, 3-1. Unlucky.

Seriously though, I wouldn't personally bet on football - I've only done it once, and I got lucky by saying Chelsea would beat Barcelona 3-2 on aggregate of the 2012 Champions League semi. I'd never do it again, especially with something that will last the whole season. There's nothing you can do but wait really. I know a little about football, but I would presume Arsenal's odds are so high because there last remaining matches seem like some of the harder teams to go up against (Tottenham, Chelsea, Man City, Everton)

Indeed! I should also mention that Arsenal had just recently lost to Stoke! (a team they should have definitely not lost to!)

Man utd being champions should be mentioned! But it don't think they'll win now but will probably get a champions league place.

Arsenal definitely still have a chance but I think man city with get it this year

can they win? Of course.

Will they? I highly doubt it

Easily yeah. I'd say Chelsea and arsenal are the favourites ... but any of those 2 and Liverpool (who I'd not rule out one iota with a late great run) and man City can win it! It has never been so open in ages I think.

The only way Man utd will get a champions league place is if they can turn around the 2-0 on agg and win the whole thing the leagues gone and so is top four realstic.

arsenal are not favourites in the slightest, city and chelsea are. I'd put liverpool above arsenal too and that's not having looked at the odds.

Arsenal have by far the hardest run in of the top 4 at the moment and their form has slipped massively recently. Their performance against Stoke was absolutely dreadful.

Haha, you're right, I should be saying odds and not chances. Because Odds include the house edge :)

Totally agree with you!

Their performance against Stoke was absolutely dreadful.

Indeed, that's what worries me most! Arsenal have to perform well in the next couple of rounds against Tottenham and Chelsea or it's done!

arsenal are going to win. 100%.

ramsey is on his way back and our star winter signing kim is due his debut really soon too. shame about walcott and wilshire but the show goes on.

the ozil + ramsey link ups will become deadly once again and if giroud remembers he's actually a striker then everyone else should give up now.

we deserve this title

every bloody game Wilshire is always hyped about everyone was excited about him playing for England and they bloody go and get him injured I am so mad as if we don't have enough bloody injured players

Wilshere is crap he's a slow racist with mediocre passing ability and no desire to ever shoot

Also no, Arsenal won't win it. Wouldn't have bet on them even when they were top because they always bottle it in the 2nd half of the season. It's been between Chelsea and City since before the season even started

I've adapted the odds at the top for current standings:

Man City 1 in 2.25
Chelsea 1 in 2.5
Liverpool 1 in 4
Arsenal 1 in 41
Everton 1 in 1501
Tottenham 1 in 2501
Man Utd 1 in 4001

1

Chelsea
66

2

Liverpool
62

3

Arsenal
62

4

Man City
60

5

Tottenham
53

6

Everton
51

7

Man Utd
48

I think we (Liverpool) have a great chance if we can keep picking up the results. For once, saying that we're in with a chance of winning the league isn't just a fantasy, and we're not just chasing Europa places!

I'm still sticking with my opinions in this thread, although not likely to happen this season, we still have a chance. Ramsey is due back really soon and Ozil should also be back. Flamini has upped his game a lot but Giroud is still slacking. If Ramsey can finish his season the same way it started, we might just clinch it. I'd even be happy with 3rd or 2nd, just bored of finishing 4th now.

Although, we still have the FA cup to win. If we somehow manage to pull out a double this season, I will die a happy man.

really?!?

There's a fairly good chance that arsenal could even finish out of the top 4 as Arsenal have everton to play who will be one point behind (assuming they win their game in hand).

If we are to beat Everton and win the rest of our games, we'll be sitting on 82 points (I think) and even with a loss to Everton we should finish on 79 points which, in theory, means a top 4 finish.

Although it will take a miracle for us to win the title, someone has to believe still :(
