Hey all, I am in grade 9 now, and apparently on the 15th of September, they are going to initiate and or beat all the grade nines. Any opinions of how to get out of the beating? (I can't call in sick)

We used to have this at our school - its not as bad as some other schools though.
Pretty much, the grade 11's and 12's began to feel it was very immature and stopped doing it.

And what happens to girls, is they get something like "minor niner" or "insert here" with an arrow pointing to her mouth, or something like that.

It didnt happen at all this year, which is good as I am a new grade nine ;).
Its mostly one with paddles and whatnot, to make your back go red.

Yes, we beat eachother (some of us), but we aren't into robbing/mugging kids and stealing their stuff at all. I guess there is a big difference between Canada and the UK.

If that's supposed to be insulting towards the UK, I don't see the point. The comment I made wasn't meant to offend anyone from Canada, or anyone for that matter. Also, what's this about robbing/mugging kids in the UK?

My point wasn't meant to be insulting at all. Simply, I was pointing out the differences in crime/violence between the two countries. We get more violence here (Not guns, knives etc.), while there is more robbing/mugging in the UK. For example, we don't have "chavs" in Canada.

That's true.. But not all of the UK is like that, just a small selection of people.

Not all "chavs" are the worst people in the world, I don't think :p Gun crime is on the rise here though, dramatically.

Actually, quite the same here. We are seeing about double the amount of gun violence in Toronto, then last year. However, it is considerably small to the amount occurring in the USA right now.

Lol - That is because it is a small island with comparably, a low population.

Lol, whenever I hear Jane St., it reminds me of Vaughn Mills for some reason.

Yeh, most of our shootings happen there - rough area I guess.

Mine doesn't either. I am in a small town just outside of Toronto - so I just hear about on the radio/tv/newspaper.

eat something slightly poisonous, not fatally poisonous, and be 'ill'. or, fall down the stairs (accidentally on purpouse) and 'seriously hurt your leg'.
