View Full Version : Reputation times are wrong?

Hmm, I've been getting some reps for a post I made and noticed that ugh, the times are wrong? Not sure if it's the time that whoever repped me has or what, but it says (for my latest) "
12-03-2014 11:46 PM". The bottom of the site says this:
All times are GMT +11. The time now is 10:52 AM.

You've got an incorrect time zone set

I could be wrong about this, but I might know why this is.

On your general settings, you have 'Date & Time Options' and then 'Time Zone:' which you'll have GMT by looks of the time of the rep. Then the one at the bottom, you have your location set to Melbourne, which is 11 hours in front of the UK - do you have the option:

'Automatically detect DST settings'
'DST corrections always on/off'

Do you have it set to auto or on? As that might be why it says it?

But even if the DST is wrong it shouldn't be 11PM as in GMT time. It's now the 13th, the reps I've been getting are on the 12th even though the last one I got was just before posting this thread on the 13th

Okay, triple post.

Even giving a rep it shows UK/GMT time instead of my local time.

Maybe try changing your timezone to a different one and see if it affects you too?

Changed my time and it's like yours, two different ones.

I believe a custom plugin is used for reputation, whoever wrote it probably set timezone conversions to server default.

hmm he made a post that received 3 +rep and in the post he attacked karter (completely unprovoked) and was racist

obviously his post was edited and he got warned but was just wondering wat happens regarding the reps he received and the ppl that repped him. imo rep should be removed and any1 that +rep him should be warned as well.

At the moment there's no rule against +Repping someone for rude/racist posts but it's something to consider.

I didn't realise that reps are so important still. Also, it wasn't even edited for being racist, sorry love. (Hope e5; doesn't mind me posting this)

As I said, borderline racist. You weren't edited for being racist, if you read your edit on the post, you would see this. …
and if you want to keep talking about being racist I'm pretty sure calling someone "stale white bread" is racist, no?

i dont associate with stale white breads now stop and that's just for saying I didn't mean to have a dig at him.

I'm pretty sure my reps are in Uk time yet I'm in gmt+8 but it never really bothered me.

Okay so here's my conclusion.

No matter what timezone you're in/what time you have the forum set to, all reps are set to GMT time and I'm not sure whether it is this way by default or just can't be changed. I do know that it is much easier for Administrators for them to be displayed in GMT. This is because if you were to post in the Support forum, asking for a negative rep to be removed, you would tell us the time that you were given the rep.

I can't find a way to change it for it to show your individual timezone as I assumed it would have done that depending on the timezone you chose when signing up to the forum. I'm not sure that it really makes a difference though, is the time you received your rep really significant to anyone?

The thread has nothing at all to do about which post received a rep. Not sure why you feel like you need to come in and (continue) to say that the reps I got on a certain post should be removed for something which wasn't what you said.
