Hello girls and boys.
Just curious to know, has anyone/does anyone have a job in Canada? What is the market like there at the moment? I.e. is there much in demand or is it as dead as road kill?
Is it difficult to live over there for a year? Bored of Australia, not a lot going on here that I haven't done before and want to spruce my life up a bit.

Oh come to Canada! It's a nice place. Working, depending on where you're living. There's jobs everywhere; you just have to go looking for it.

Be prepared for the cold though. Even in the summer it only gets around 30 degree Celsius on some days.

Mmm. I'm thinking Vancouver, simply because it seems to be the biggest english speaking area which (I would think) means more jobs? Also I figured that hey Cobs there so I can try there first since I did my apprenticeship at the Australian version (which is the head company)..

Any tips? How much $$$ would you recommend saving up before a holiday there? Whoa!

This post is so confusing. 30 Celsius in summer is hot :P

I guess that's what I get for living in the UK :P

I was there during the "heatwave" last year. A record what, 7 days touching 30 degrees celcius in London? Killer! And Melbourne this years heatwave:
The city has recorded four consecutive days over 40 degrees, with overnight temperatures dropping below 25 just once since Tuesday.

Yup, Ithink the hottest UK temperature ever in one place for just a fraction of the day was 38, but really the country only gets 30+ every couple of years or so.

I live in Canada and go to school there. I don't work here because it's too complicated come tax time. I love it here, everyone is so nice. I choose NS over NJ any day!

My friend left the UK in November to do a year working/holiday in Canada. He took with him £2000 and had a prearranged job as a dishwasher for $10p/h. He said it's amazing and definitely affordable as long as you're not too extravagant with your money.

Ha. That's awesome. At the moment I have something like 5.5GBP saved up in 6 months or so, but by the time i want to leave I'll have maybe $18000 aussie bucks. How did he hook a job up so early? Any idea?

I've just messaged him to find out the website he used but this one looks pretty good http://www.bunac.org/uk/work-abroad/work-canada
I'll post the site whenever he replies. If you save up that much then you would have no problem (by the sounds of it) working/living there for a year.

Ah okay, so he went through a company. Hmm, I'll have to suss more options out. I'm thinking if I try with the company who I did my apprenticeship through it should be easier, I know all that stuff off by heart.
OldLoveSong;, you're Canadian, what is the job market like at the moment? Is it fairly easy or fairly difficult to find jobs?

most of my mates rocked up and found a job on the ground. they were paid a lot more and their hours significantly better... only thing is you'd have to pay for your lift pass and have the balls to do it. gl, i've been pretty tempted to do it but landed a decent job here so gonna stick that out for a bit. might give hotham or perisher a whirl one day.
