View Full Version : Regarding sigs

If a signature is too bit, inappropriate or for whatever other reason they are removed, why edit it and leave a message?

I've never understood this, why not remove it and PM them, you don't need to inform everyone else on the forum that something which is no longer there is inappropriate, too big etc, only the user who has the signature in the first place.

Presumably they are PM'd already, so it's pointless leaving a mod edit in the signature..

Remove them from any signatures that currently have it and don't do it in future, just remove it and PM them.

not to mention when you remove the warnings from the sign they warn you again like.....that's so stupid
what is the point of this...what are you thinking mods

It's up to the user whether they replace the signature with something else or their choice to keep it to be honest. Although I'm game for not adding one and just sticking to PMing

scottish

Yeah I'm aware, but there's no point putting the edit in there in the first place, as you're removing the offending material and PMing the user.

I don't see the need to leave an edit in a signature.

Phil is back around half 8 so I'm sure he'll comment then and make a decision :P

It's kind of a 'badge of honour' for some people who deliberately break rules to have one as well! I think just PMing would be fine, personally :)

If people are that sad then even more reason to take it off them.

It's unanimous we're removing it Phil; do your thing

There must be a reason it was introduced because I agree it does seem a little pointless. Wispur;?

What with an edit in a signature? It's just more effort, not a power hype :S

Probably following the 'we edit posts so we'll do the same for sigs' but didn't realise it's pointless so continued to do it.

Nothing to do with me :P It has been something we've done since I joined the mod department. I don't think it particularly needs to be there, but thats up to Phil.

That's not our job - it goes straight to Forum Management. Seeings as Phil has just got into the role, give him a chance to settle in before we look at changing things that (let's be honest) in the grand scheme of things don't make a huge difference :P

The main priority at the moment is getting ready for the event (which is easier said than done when Phil is still getting to grips with the power that the Admin CP brings)

u could argue it's the same when they edit a rule breaking post, they remove the rule break n put an edit
tells other ppl that they will be punished if they do the same

I personally just find it annoying seeing it at the bottoms of someone peoples EVERY post

you basically just said 'he just got the job, so wait a while before we ask him to do his job' what.

Anyway, Phil; remove it from your mod handbook, post in mod section informing mods to no longer lead modwarns in users signatures and look through existing signatures and remove mod warns

Thanks.

Post is one bit on one thread though, signatures are plastered everywhere and having a modwarn on every page because someone thinks having it in their signature is cool, is just tacky.

Hey guys!

Sorry I'm late to the party, I was morning this evening! I some what agree with this so sometime this evening I'll remove it from the SMOD Handbook and let the SMOD's know that this won't be happening anymore. Nevertheless, I'm not going to ask the SMOD's to go around and remove the modwarn from signatures. If it bothers the user it only takes about thirty seconds for them to remove it themselves.

Thanks everyone :)
Dragga; What are you even talking about?

Anyway, @Phil (http://www.habboxforum.com/member.php?u=67954); remove it from your mod handbook, post in mod section informing mods to no longer lead modwarns in users signatures and look through existing signatures and remove mod warns

Just ask them to remove it from active posters who post in most threads and have that atrocious warning in their signature.
