View Full Version : habbox st patricks day quest?
all the other fansites seem to have done a badge (9 other site)
just wondering is habbox doing something and if not, why?
it's with your trophies! KIDDING
It would be nice to see habbox do some more as other fansites [very small ones] seem to be able to do it easily!

Most likely isn't one because management take forever to organise things.
you would think so considering forum manager is irish!

I knew nothing of this event, but I'm sure Sam has a perfectly reasonable explanation as to why she was unable to do what she had planned.
It's a little bit late now, but perhaps we could do a very limited edition donator with an award and release it this evening. That does depend on whether Phil is online and happy to do it though.

afaik she didnt need to plan anything. all the rooms where done using builders club and all had the same task given by habbo lol.
would have taken an hour to make a room, even less
ok I'll just say what everyon is thinking..... I highly doubt there was anything 'planned' at all - probably too busy revamping news or some other behind the scenes rubbish. this is a big occasion that had guidelines for each fansite that were easily followed and our community departments either weren't made aware or weren't dedicated enough to the cause to make something happen. valentine event was ugly and paddys day one is non existant. lets just hope that the easter one that has seemingly been being organised for the past 2 months is not quite as terrible.

@Drew (http://www.habboxforum.com/member.php?u=118080); did ur team make us a badge?
Do you know what these guidelines were or just speculating?
In my experience, Habbo are rubbish with instructions, often ambiguous and subject to change on their whim and suddenly what you had planned needs an immediate overhaul (although the latter may have been teething problems cos fansite spotlight was new, it got a bit more stable later on). It's still not an excuse to missing the deadline though and new badges are definitely a way to get instant advertising. I don't think fansites have worked out just yet precisely how to manipulate it to its maximum potential for long-term benefit but missing that opportunity is a shame.
I know I go on about lack of leadership in the general management team but in Matt's defence, he did keep a close eye on things like this (probably cos he recognises how important it is) so we also need to ask what he was (or wasn't) doing during this too.

All the rooms has some sort of leprechaun or design to match the badge, they all also had the same objective (fill up a space with x amount of habbos to get the badge) - I doubt all 9 of the fansites who bothered to participate in this came together to suggest they do the exact same thing.

so no real need to come up with any original idea and struggle for days trying to think of something that isn't a maze? Well if that's the case, that sounds like a really boring fansite event (9 fansites with the exact same thing?) but if it was that straightforward, it's difficult to imagine how anything could've been planned yet not materialised.
I'm assuming then that Habbo delegated badges or were they designed by graphics team then make a room from that?

I'm not going to blame anyone but we simply missed the deadline for this event. All the emails that were sent to us was posted by myself and I made sure that General Management were tagged into it (especially Community AGM) to make sure that they can look into it and deal with it necessary. I wasn't fully around as I've had to go outside the Habbox world and do some other personal business.
I know Laura asked about the deadline and the task with Sam a couple of times - I am not sure where that went as I think that was in private channels rather than in the group skype chat.
Although what I do recommended is we do the following seeing as there is four of us and even If I'm not here it should still be able to get done:
Emails when they are arrive into the inbox ---> Get posted in AGM Forum (They do already)
Reminders set on some sort of application or service (OneNote / Google Calendar) depending on what the others use to remind them of such tasks and that they need to be completed by X.
Lock the Community AGM in a room with a computer.
That way all members of General Management know what needs to be done, by when even If myself or one of the others isn't there. So I apologise for us missing the deadline it just seems to have been bad timing but we'll get that sorted.

When I was first promtoted to AGM, and got back from leave, there was an email from Sulake in a thread, which I asked a few questions and came up with an idea for. I think it was posted before I actually joined, and I was on limited activity until the deadline (I think, I didn't really know when the deadline was).
Then, getting settled into my own role (which TECHNICALLY doesn't have anything to do with community although I'm more than happy to help out, and will be looking further into events in the future!), means that it did kinda slip my mind a bit. I did ask about the deadline more than once but with both the Community AGM and GM taking a bit of a step back this week for personal issues I think it's extremely counter-productive to be quite so negative as y'all are.
In future though, you can all rest assured that with a new, very well-functioning and communicating AGM team, we will be searching out and pushing our involvement in events like this.
It's something to look into as well, creating a definitive calendar of what things we as a fansite have to do on certain days, something which I've suggested to the GM team now.

Definitely, missing the deadline could've been easily avoided even if it did end up needing to be delegated downwards to a department manager.
The calendar/reminders thing is a good idea. Poor Chris though, by sounds of it, he's going to be talking through the keyhole while matt, sam and laura are locked inside. ;)

I don't know why contents brought into it (other than maybe advertising after it's planned and organized), massive fail on community AGM and event managers side from what I can see.
If the community AGM cba doing their job for irl problems (time to resign) then should have specifically told another AGM to deal with it or to get events manager to take care of it, not just ignore it.
Habbo users are massive badge *****s, so this is easy advertising and easy way to get some new users. But instead they sit with their thumbs up their arses doing nothing and failing a deadline apparently every other fansite can easily manage.

There was a thread in AGM only, and it had been discussed on Skype. The Event Manager knew nothing about it as it isn't an event as such - the idea was (that I knew of), we make an Irish shape in a room and players come in standing on the squares to make that shape then go through the teleport to receive the prize. It wasn't too big of an event that it needed to be delegated. Yeah, we missed out on it, but there are a few others that can also potentially increase advertising for Habbox, just this time we missed a deadline.

So basically what it was, as an event on habbo. The department that comes to mind.. events.
It obviously was too big of an event that it needed to be delegated as you failed to do it.
Sure there's loads others can do to increase advertising, but this was an easy global habbo advertisement that would reach thousands, and you failed to utilize it.

Surely this won't look good to Sulake right now, failing to include this site in a major event when they are currently reassessing what fansites should be official?
I have read about half this thread and don't care for your plethora of internal problems but come on guys get it together. This is meant to be one of the best fansites are you're all flailing about without a clue.
i swear a lot of you go on about life over habbo, and because an agm was away (for real life reasons which should always take priority, not forgetting she took on this job thinking everything would be fine, you don't know what's going to happen anymore) and you shoot them down.
just a learning curve, if anything, that things should and can be relegated to events management. Just saying.
