That's right, Microsoft has announced today that it is bringing Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) to the iPad - finally! It'll require an Office 365 subscription to edit documents but will be free to download. They'll be available on the App Store at 11am Pacific Time today, but I'm not sure if that's just for the US for how.

Office 365 subscription already exists, I think one of those articles mentioned it's £80 a year but I'm not sure myself :P. I bought the Office 365 university last year for a one-off £59 cost so I have Office 365 for I think 4 years anyway :P.

Edit:

Home premium: £79 for 1 year
Small Business: £119 for 1 year
Student/University: £59 for 4 years

I'm curious how much Apple is being cut on the 365 subscriptions.

The subscription part of it might put off users but it's nice to see them coming to the iPad devices anyway.

I agree, the UI looks great, but I don't want to have to pay to edit my documents. I'll just stick to iWork to sync documents across all my devices.

Yeah I wouldn't have purchased a subscription just to use it on my iPad, but since I already have a subscription this is a great step up from their web apps.

I'm curious how much Apple is being cut on the 365 subscriptions.

It's been reported now that they'll be taking 30% of subscriptions made through the app.

Love it, I have University edition so it's all included and mum is well jealous! ;)

I read an update for Office on iPhone that it's free to home users now?
