Based on what he's said I presume he's ignored a thread and, when he clicks new posts he gets that error, due to the ignored thread (or so he thinks). You could try and disable the plugin, to see if that does anything.

The column which stored the ignored forums only held up to 100 characters. You'd gone beyond that, this wouldn't be an issue except you were unlucky enough to have a comma at the end of your ignored forums causing the queries for the actual ignoring to fail. In addition somehow (probably matt misclicking) you ended up with a comma in the middle of your ignored forums which left me stuck for about an hour. Finally there was also a SQL injection vulnerability which is now fixed on this forum but every other forum running the plugin is now vulnerable to having their tables dropped.
