V7: Should Habbox users abandon hope?
http://habbox.com/styles/v6/images/header/logo.png
For a year or two now, Habbox users have been promised a new website with HabboxLive being integrated into the main site - along with a new Rare Values System and just generally a more updated website than the one which we currently have that is a few years old. Recently, the coder working on V7 was relieved of his position and V7 seems to be nowhere in sight despite it now being around two years since it was supposed to have been launched.
So what now? Have you given up hope that it'll ever arrive? Do you think Habbox should perhaps fundraise to pay somebody to design a new website? Should departments standing in the way of V7 be given second priority? What exactly do you want to see in a new Habbox website should if ever come into fruitation? If V7 doesn't arrive, what do you think of the future of Habbox in the next two or so years?

Well I am sure we all had our hopes for this to come in act but seems not to be moving atm. I didn't bring my hopes up but I am sure some users/staff did and it sucks for them. When you promise something to a user and you wait 2 years + and still nothing done well users/staff gives up hope and sometimes they just don't bother with a fansite that promised them something and nothing is happening. I do hope v7 will come out soon and I know the Senior Management are working hard but things that were being promised should be kept their promise and do it and not keep it aside..

Because literally no-one on the client ever states hx prices and everyone goes by mp. The few things that aren't on mp will have outdated prices on hx anyway because they aren't traded often enough to be reported on accurately. That aside, v6 rv could still continue while not holding up the progress of the entire site that's just about ready for v7

yer but quite a lot of items in the marketplace get rigged up/down, so you cant always rely on it.

honestly davecool if you're so passionate about rare values just keep the ltd values bc instead of opening a laggy homepage of habbox people would rather prefer opening marketplace and checking the average
also u dont have proof of people using it either all u have is a poll in which habbox staff pity voted to make rv stay

I'm not going to pretend that v7 is the answer to all the problems at Habbox, because it isn't. Just providing a silent update to the site won't make a difference if people don't know about it, and who I'm referring to here is the population of Habbo that don't/haven't used Habbox as they're the people we need. However, it'd definitely help because as mentioned already; many people find v6 laggy, it looks outdated now and it's not without its problems. Do I still hold hope that we'll get it? Yes. Do I think we'll get it soon? To be honest.. no. I just can't see it happening any time soon, and by soon I mean within the next 6 months. But when we do get it, hopefully it'll be worth the wait :D.
agreed rare values is just pointless i tried to be polite but sorry luke no one uses rare values
No need to apologise, we're all entitled to our opinion :P. And everyone already knows my opinion stands as that it's not useless. If it was up to me then I would have the majority of the items we value i.e. all bronze star items, but I was told to wait for v7. But to stay on topic, I think the problem with Rare Values and why the Marketplace will always be more popular is that for people who've never heard of Habbox, they're obviously going to trust the 'values', no matter how rigged or buggy they may be, given to them directly through the Habbo cilent than on our 3rd party website. That is why most people will go by Marketplace values, and even me and other Habbox RV-users will too. But there's nothing wrong with comparing them, and as I've said in the Feedback thread before, I wouldn't be able to confidently choose items to exist in without Habbox because of the fact that Habbox goes back more than 30 days. And just another point is that the Marketplace average is often inaccurate as it shows the last 7 days overall, but values can change significantly in that time :P.

People in the client do still state Habbox Rare Values, even though the majority will of course state the Marketplace with one of the reasons being what I just wrote above. Your last sentence is something which I think could definitely be possible, but it could also lead to further neglect of the Rare Values department. Would be interesting to get an official reply on the possibility though :P.

Definitely, and it's lucky you can see the graphs. However, people rigging the Marketplace value actually do manipulate the value so easily, which leads back to my earlier point on just how much trust - perhaps too much trust - people put in to the Marketplace values, just because it's 'official'.

Going back to my earlier point, if it was my decision I'd have LTDs, Gold Star items and Silver Star items only :P. I don't have the survey results on my laptop, but they were definitely not mostly staff - as I said in the feedback thread though, I'd be happy to have another survey done although I'm not sure what benefit it'd have :P.

You never know.. maybe General Management are secretly planning on released v7 for the 10th Anniversary of Rare Values ;). (Which is apparently in July).

Im sure that the integration of Habboxlive with Habbox was meant to be with v6, it's something I remember being discussed when I was AGM back in 2010. I think that it would be good to actually see version seven come to fruition after so many years. If it's going to be sometime before even see a glimmer of it being released then I feel something should at least be done with the existing site skin, I find it pretty ugly to look at when you compare it with many other fansites which look a lot more 'professional' and sleek. All aspects of the content on the site needs improvement, everything needs to have a general format from news > content > radio, at the minute everything that is managed by an individual department seems to have a different look to it which doesn't look great when looking through the site. I'm sure that is also something which was going to be addressed with v7 as even when v6 was released, the content of every page was rarely being updated as departments were waiting for the new version to do a massive update / overhaul.

If I buy all the gold in the world and then set my own price for it, that is the price of gold. People playing the system for profit isn't the same thing as false values

That's a bit different to buying 1 of hundreds of identical items, putting it in the mp at 20x its value and buying it back yourself to influence the value significantly without any two-person trade taking place.

Yeah I can remember the Habboxlive merge being spoken about years ago, it'll definite be good to have it merged in to Habbox.com
