I just seen 3 threads
Are we not supposed to be able to see them? or is the main section bugged as I can't see that.
i wonder if this is a play on the Draw Something game but they dont realise that Draw My Thing is also a game by the same company
love the concept tho

I imagine they know and just copying the name.
But I dislike the way it's set up already, it's a closed competition so only graphics staff see your entries, it should be public so people can guess the entries as well rather than just gfx staff for a bit of banter tbh.
i like it stop being negative
i posted a thread saying i want to play do i get a word yet
scottish
31-03-2014, 09:33 PM
I'm not being negative I'm giving constructive feedback
As it stands it's a competition where you're just submitting something, behind the scenes stuff, you get a score.
when it could be turned into a competition with an audience kinda thing since the audience of the jungle failed ;lll
but if it's left open to "audience" then people can just tell eachother what their word is and get free points. this is fairest way to do it, lets hope a different audience-centric event will crop up too :)
scottish
31-03-2014, 09:39 PM
It doesn't even need to include audience participation (if fear of cheating) just the ability to see the images would be entertaining and I know I for one would view more entries, not sure about others.
Just letting ye know that I've rem your threads from the forum so they don't come up in New Posts as nothings has been announced yet . I don't know how you found it, assume it came up in new posts or something but yeah. Just removing it all to stop other people from posting in there as well even though it's obvious they shouldn't be :P
er phil the thread says this
The cycle continues until the competition ends at 23:59 GMT on the 14th of April. However, there will only be a maximum of 15 tasks posted for each player throughout the competition, which is approximately one task per day.
and 15 days from now is 14th april
so i assume its meant 2 be starting today.......
It's not my task lol. I haven't even gotten around to reading about it yet. However, it hasn't been announced and the forum hasn't been made active so the competition hasn't started.

31-03-2014, 10:10 PM
Kyle's right, the nature of the competition means it has to be closed off to keep it fairer. Perhaps when it's all said and done there'd be an argument to have a portfolio of all the drawings and a 'bonus' competition where if you guess the most you win a prize but I think as it is now is really the only way you can do it.
scottish
31-03-2014, 10:12 PM
to make my feedback more clear I'll put it this way.
Currently you have 1 thread for everything according to;
1. Post a thread in the Draw My Thing sub-forum, with your forum name as the thread title, telling us that you want to play! Your thread can only be viewed by the competition organisers and yourself.
2. Once you've posted your thread, we will reply with your first task. You will be given a choice of three words to draw: one easy, one medium and one hard. You choose one of these words to draw, and once you have finished, you post your choice of word and your drawing in the thread.
What I suggest is, sure with first part make the applications private, also post in it with the word for their task, but for the actual post have them post it in some public forum (in the draw my thing section) so people can actually see it instead of the same private thread.
This allows other members to look at it and guess, and something to do really even if you don't want to have some audience participation it's still entertaining to look over images people have drew and try to guess the answers.
The only way you'd be able to 'cheat' really is if you have public members telling the Staff members the answer, but that's already going to be a potential issue as staff members can tell each other the answers, and I trust you trust your staff enough to not cheat anyway so it won't be an issue.
So yeah
- Private thread for application, and each 'task' will be sent to them
- Public thread for each competition entry
Also surely the user should be able to start with the colour black!
Inseriousity.
31-03-2014, 10:18 PM
Oh my bad, my own fault for not reading the whole thread lol. Could do it that way too, I imagine they just wanted to make things as simple as possible.
scottish
31-03-2014, 10:19 PM
Possibly, but would be interesting for them to make it a public kinda thing, failing that they should at least do as you said at the end have every entry shown.
yes make them public but dont allowe audience to have any actual sway
and keep entries off new posts

You need to make http://www.habboxforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1634 viewable, otherwise it's just confusing as hell trying to navigate the section.
I did indeed, and I understand your point however the competition will stay as it is. I have had little input into the making of this forum event because I have been far too busy at work, Sho and Drew have organised the entire thing and I agree with everything that they have chosen. Perhaps at the end we'll release a thread of our favourite entries for everyones amusement.

I think this is a good format, and I agree that it should probably be left to graphics staff to guess rather than the public as it would result in easier cheating.
It would be nice to see all the entries posted on the forum, but then I suppose other people can just help the graphics staff - so I think releasing them after the competition is done is a good idea :)
And nice to see graphics actually doing something publicly.

Yeah just down to the trust the staff have really, if they're trusting it's not issue but if trust issues you can't really allow public viewing.
Don't quite know what you're saying about permission errors, everything seems fine to me, but considering I'm a moderator of that forum then that's no surprise. Is anyone else having issues?

We can't view http://www.habboxforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1634
We don't have any Draw my Thing on the forum index
you could just show the drawings once staff have had their guesses? and maybe announce if that person won any points
i like the idea though! i think it'll be pretty fun to do
Hey guys, sorry that the announcement wasn't made earlier in the Community Notice Board! But yes, I have been thinking of releasing drawings to the public for added entertainment value after they go through the "guessing stage". We'll try to make sure the same word doesn't get used in different tasks. Big thanks to Phil; for helping out with the forum!

Rules have been updated to address questions that have been asked. We have also decided to remove the limit on the number of tasks every player gets throughout the event, which was 15 previously.
Drew; Yupt; Shonly;
Can you reconsider that, even it means upping it but having a limit on it
As that's essentially down to be more active = more chance of getting points = higher chance of winning
It just comes down to the battleships game as I'm sure Phil; remembers basically one team got an unfair advantage as they had more turns as they were posting more often so won which was unfair.
So yeah, can you enforce some kind of upper limit so it's not going to be unfair on the less active people who might even be the best drawers. I know I for one will be active (and an amazing drawer) but in reality my odds of winning are very low (almost none) but with this kind of rule I have a chance lol
It should be about best drawing/ability to guess the word that gets the points, not the people who are most active imho

Another fault on the no limit thing is that they could rig it or whatever so their favourite person keeps getting new words really quickly so they get loads of points

That's a bunch of crap then.
After discussing with Sho, we have decided to set the limit to 20. Your argument makes sense, and sorry that we did not think of it earlier! The initial limit of 15 words was put in place because Sho and I can't be online 24/7 to post new tasks, so we had it as about one task per day. Then we got carried away earlier when the event started cause the response has been unexpectedly great, and we ended up removing the limit LOL
Sorry about this again, I'll change the rules thread. Thanks for the input!

we're changing the way we admin points so that it should be far easier for us three to sort out. cheers for bringing this to our attention! (can't help it that it's just so popular xoxoox)

All I can actually say at this moment is bare with us, we have (as of last count) 42 players playing at a very fast pace and 3 admins. We will fall into a good routine however it may take a day or so.

Even if you used Chinese, how would the staff be able to translate it?
They open up google translator... How do they input the Chinese characters? The Chinese don't use an alphabet do they?

To be fair, I want him to write it in Chinese just to see what he ends up with, I can barely draw straight lines, so good luck getting Chinese symbols to look accurate.

Used Google's translate app where you can draw the letters/symbols, and it gives the answer as 'odor' :P? So are you trying to say e5 smells :(?

Oh wow, didn't know there was an app where you could draw in symbols. That means it would be relatively easy to do it.

After drawing that second symbol about five times, Google did recognise it as what Kardan drew (see pic in my last post) :P. But it's definitely a fair amount of effort to go through if someone wanted to translate the symbols you put in your pic, not the mention that you'd be wasting time if they weren't real symbols :P.

Yeah it wasn't too hard to draw those :P, but there's definitely some that wouldn't be so easy to replicate e.g. just came accross this http://www.chinese-tools.com/learn/characters/list.html

Oo didn't know that :P - although if I just use the Google Translate app I can then translate it after the symbols are recognised :P. I wouldn't use it outside the app, and already have 3 keyboards (English UK, French, Emoji) :P.

sho and i have plenty more ideas to flesh out and try over the next year or so but we've both been overwhelmed by draw my thing's popularity so i imagine it will be something we'll discuss to re-do again next year.
