It was 15 credits (An introduction to contemporary law in Scotland) and of course it's not going to be anything more weighty, I had other exams to do...

Okeanos

It was 15 credits (An introduction to contemporary law in Scotland) and of course it's not going to be anything more weighty, I had other exams to do...

so you aren't in any posotion to judge the OU, as all proper OU modules are 30 or 60 credits. the 'introduction to contemporary law in Scotland' module is an introductory module, it doesn't count towards any quantification.

FlyingJesus
03-04-2014, 09:02 PM
Yes it does all OU modules can count towards a degree, that's kinda how the place works

Kardan
03-04-2014, 09:02 PM
Wait, what are peoples opinions on how much credits a module is worth?

I thought it was more impressive if you did small credit modules (E.g: 12x 10 credit modules in a year), as it's a lot more work to juggle than simply 2x 60 credit modules?

FlyingJesus
03-04-2014, 09:03 PM

sigh. it isn't possible to do 12 x 10 credit modules because as i say - the only proper modules are 30 and 60 credits.

It would be impressive workwise but also not possible since there aren't that many smaller modules that you can do and still link to a specific outcome degree, and you have to have a certain number of points from level 2 and 3 modules which as far as I know don't come in smaller credit numbers

or atleast checking the previous years employability after completing their degree at that uni, the uni i went to wasn't one of the best, but employability was a bit better for archaeology, so if we weren't in an economic **** hole, i'd probably be doing a job i'd love.

yeah, but its probably fair to say that, in general, employability/graduate prospects will go up as the university's position in the rankings goes up.
