Biggest let down.
So boring.

Sulake has really missed the mark if this is just for iPad. What a disappointment. They shouldn't have got users hopes up.

said it ages a go when it first came out, like it's great etc but it barely affects anybody so it's completely crap and a waste of energy to get everyones hopes up over something exciting and new to give us complete crap that half of habbo wont even download.

Matt

tbh though it's not great news for people that already use habbo but i do feel like a lot of people with an ipad are gonna see this on the app store and download it due to nostalgia (used to play habbo when they were younger) or if they are like 12-16 right now

could be good activity wise

wow, hey guests sign up if ur fit

I'm thinking more about it and it doesn't make a lot of sense considering a lot of people using iPads would prefer to be on Wifi to save money and if I am within reach of Wifi I would prefer to type on my laptop over an iPad. For me anyway.

A lot of people may have a tablet but no laptop, and a tablet is usually more convenient to use over a laptop anyway due to increased portability.

I'm not sure why some people seem to personally offended by this? The reactions of some people in the Welcome Lounge were ridiculous. I'm not surprised Habbo is on the bones of it's arse with our current community. Such a vile bunch with a huge sense of self-entitlement. I sometimes wonder why I bother interacting with some of these turds half of the time.

I'll be the first to admit the announcement was a bit of a let down, but so what? I wasn't expecting a solid gold statue of myself on the hotel view to be announced. I personally won't be using Habbo on iPad, but I'm sure many will. Its a positive step in the right direction, bodes will for the future.

I believe some Habbos could do with a reality check. Chill out a bit man.

Yeah for sure. I hope they release it on other platforms as well as iOS or that would be silly. I also think they'll only make it for HCs as they'll be wanting to make some sort of money out of it.

It's something Habbo needs, Habbo for iPad is the future. I can see why they did the big countdown though, they're aiming to get on the top lists & if they can, well that'll be fantastic right? I do wish they hinted at iPad a bit more so we didn't all think up these random suggestions but oh well its done now. Lets just hope they sooth us with the new UI and other Habbo features already.

Doesn't seem ready for release, like they said on the blog post it's really just a late closed beta. I totally understand their need to get into the tablet market but this seems rushed. I doubt they'll see much growth until they actually implement new features that will attract new players. It's a step in the right direction though.

This just goes to show how little Habbo understand their own community. The iPad app has been a long time coming, and it's important they moved into the modern age but they have gone the entirely wrong way about this. Had they just made a regular article as they have with other apps letting everyone know Habbo was now on ios, it would have definitely been a welcome addition by everyone. However a months worth of hype for something that is only relevant to a minority of users and isn't even globally available is ridiculous. If they knew their customers, they would realise that with this much hype of course everyone is going to be imagining it's going to be the return of all the things we have asked for. They literally just set us all up to be disappointed.

I also can't imagine why this is going to be needed unless you only own an iPad and not some form of notebook too. I cannot think of a single benefit to using Habbo on a tablet instead of my laptop. I would bet money on this never being developed for windows and android tablets, because after the initial surge or apple users downloading just to see what it's like, this app is going to end up unused.

maybe i'm out of touch, but i still think this is a big deal. this is an opportunity for habbo to branch out from it's usual market and perhaps reach a new audience. i'm glad habbo are proud to promote it to such an extent, shows how much of a push they want to give it and that it's not just a half-assed attempt (bobba bar).

of course this is a huge moment to them, this is a new platform for habbo - not just adding an nostalgic game to habbo. you think this is the only thing that might fall on it's arse once the shine has come off? tell me how many people moan about wanting "old public rooms" back, and watch them gather dust as no-one visits the ice cafe or basement lobby.

Once again Sulake's priorities are all wrong.

I did predict this as one of the possibilities, but I thought for all the attention it was receiving it would be something that changed the fundamental landscape of Habbo. Instead, it was something that only affected about 50% of the population. Most of the people who have an iPad also have a desktop or laptop anyway. People will use this app probably out of curiousity, realize it's inferior to what they already have, and then go back to what they had to begin with.

I think this is grounds for quitting. If it wasn't apparent already, Habbo doesn't care what its users think. I was prepared to give them two years to rebound from the mute because I knew it set them back quite a bit, and I thought was more than fair for a big corporation like Sulake. But after all this waiting and build-up they still didn't bring back any old features like Battleball and the original Snowstorm which were requested far more than Habbo for iOS and which probably would have taken much less time to implement than an entire app.

I think why this is such a problem for me is that they bothered to make the whole hotel aware of this "grand announcement" by publishing teaser videos and an ad on the homepage, but yet it wasn't even worthy of half the hype they gave it. It's a huge disappointment by any stretch of the imagination.

Hear, hear!

Of course it is a big deal, its a big, positive step towards the future. Habbo on iPad and coming to Android later in the year, that is great. I think some people are buying into the whole "big announcement" thing to much. For Sulake and Habbo, it is a massive announcement. I bet they're proud as punch and just want to share it with people, I don't blame them. It is fantastic news.

If you getting so het up about a Habbo announcement, regardless of your age, I think you need to reevaluate your priorities. As I said earlier, the reactions of some people in the Welcome Lounge were embarrassing.

And Plebings, in response to your last point, you're soo right. I believe Habbo as a PRODUCT is better now than it ever has been. Trust me, I can only imagine how good Habbo would've been, if the community of 2001-2005ish had the things we had today, like wired (amazing), horses, monster plants, fireworks, mannequins, holes, the marketplace and many more. Even simple touches, like the clear and easy to navigate "My Stuff" instead of the tedious big hand and a search function in the catalogue. The main issue with Habbo is the users. The spoilt, childish, brattish reaction to this announcement is symptomatic of the current community.

Remember towards the end of "old Public Rooms", aside from the Welcome Lounge and the Lido they pretty much just all lay empty all day, every day. I know I sure as hell didn't go in them. When I first joined, I pretty much only went to public rooms, but as soon as I discovered furniture and private rooms, I rarely went in them again. Its a case of not missing something till it is gone.

Mr-Trainor

200 credits is C$19.99 through the app, which is much cheaper than the C$19.90 for just 110 credits (https://www.habbo.com/credits/ca) from Habbo usually. If cheaper credit prices are the same for other markets once the app is released there, it could push the app up on the top grossing list too.

Bradley.

Awkward to control? o.O Very much doubt it! With all the improvements that have came in this modern (In Coding) I believe they could create a non-awkward way to control your habbo.

And, I love the video they did. I believe cowboystyle was the one who made the video. Can't believe he used "FBI" as a Example Agency, Ima have to talk to him about that :P

I don't have any Apple products apart from an iPod Shuffle from years ago that I've never used and got it with 9,000 Tickets or something on holiday lmao. It's nice to see them expanding their markets and platforms and I'm sure it'll generate some traffic. However, I don't think the hype was needed, as it doesn't cater for everyone, which it should really with all the advertisement it got. It'll be nice to see it expanded eventually, but I think they could have done it on all platforms before releasing it.

I think that this is a good thing in terms of expanding Habbo and helping it grow, since the obvious decrease in users over the past couple of years. I still disagree with getting everyone excited for something that doesn't exactly apply to everyone. Yeah, it was announcement worthy but to do it in such a way making it a big secret, having the count down, and getting every single hotel around the world stoked for this big announcement that really didn't affect ALL of us was a slap in the face.

Disappointing. Not the fact that it's an app; that was guessed by many, including me. Just disappointing that they build something up, get everyone wondering what it could be and then tell us it's an app for your iPad. Boring. In addition to being boring, it is something that was possible before via puffin. So basically they have given us something that we could already do. Not worth the month build up.

-.- I woke up 4 am today literally waiting for this "big announcement" I was completely let down when i heard it was just an app and it isn't available in my country yet :l I learned my lesson not to trust the announcements from habbo~!

You woke up at 4 o'clock in the morning for a Habbo announcement. Re-read that last sentence out loud a couple of times and have a think.

Bet this would be horrific on an iPad Mini (?). Has anybody tried it?

I downloaded the app but I'm not all that impressed with it, you can't select furni or people and whenever I move the screen items of furni disappear :') but seeing as all I used it for before my laptop broke was to communicate with people it's good for what I need it for. Oh and I don't like the fact you're logged out when you navigate away from the screen onto another app

Decent idea, I take it you're going to have to pay and all that.

It isn't obvious, but do a long press over a habbo or furni and you can select it. However, the furni disappear bug screws it up.

The release to CA is really a beta, right? So I'm sure it'll be fixed before the worldwide release :).

I use habbo on my iPad. Works well for something they have been working on. They need to get trading working though.

Update:
This is with my iPad mini too. And it works well!

After trying it one annoying feature is for some reason when selecting furniture to change state, It feels more natural to double tap it, but that zooms in a bit.

> They should change that double tapping selects a furniture / changes a state
> Zooming should be kept to pinching like most apps.
