View Full Version : easter extravaganza?
i'm under the impression that it's starting in a few days. why has there been no advertisement for it?
i know what a few departments are doing but that's only through asking.. when will there be official announcements including rules, events, prizes etc? i do hope the lack of advertisement doesn't reflect a lack of organisation with the whole tournament. i've heard that planning has been going on for quite a while now so it's a shame no one knows what's going on. habbox could really do with a successful event under their belt!
i know there's a signature flying round somewhere but it's useless because there are no dates

The threads are all being posted tonight at some point, I've had work the past two days so time hasn't been kind there and we've been pushing for the joint event we're doing as that sort of kicks off all of HxEE! The dates are the 14th-28th and I forgot about requesting the dates on the graphic, damn (I'll see if I can get that sorted).
They will all definitely be posted today though, and hopefully we can get through it with little trouble :D.

Got all the threads just need them moving to the forums they're needed in. I don't think it's public, I'll sort that out now. Needed them out a couple of days ago at least, but hopefully it'll all go smoothly still with the delay!

has anything even been advertised for it yet? lol
It starts tomorrow and I still haven't been made aware of it except for this thread, is this another poorly organized event?
With big events you actually need to pull your **** together and get it advertised and build up some hype for it, not just abruptly release it.
If you don't have time to do your job and constantly have to put back something as simple as creating a few threads, resign. With the **** up of the last habbo event, I thought this would have went a lot more smoothly.

It's definitely not poorly organised, but we've been working on it non-stop for weeks now, as well as making sure we got the fansite event sorted too which we were sorting out on HabbCrazyForum and not on Habbox.
There hasn't been much advertisement, but I've been dropping the name in threads and the like for weeks, maybe months now which although doesn't seem like much it got people talking about it. That's advertisement in itself.
I do have time to do my job and I have become so much more active this past month or so, hence how much work has gone into this. I've been pushing managers a lot and vice versa for ages to ensure they were planning it and both sides knew what was going on. The only time that wasn't possible was when it came to posting the threads. I'd planned to post them (otherwise I wouldn't have said I was going to), but sorry something out of my control happened, and I'm not sure whether I should put my personal life on here as it'll get flagged as sympathy posting when that's so far from the truth.
Overall, the advertisement might not have been there due to whatever reason, but the planning is. If that's not having time for my job then, I don't know what is. Also you've been looking in the HxEE forum for a while, surely that made you aware.

I've not seen anyone speak about it, apart from this feedback thread asking wtfs going on with it

You answered yourself in the previous sentence, I made it easier for you.
I've been looking in the HxEE forum for a while what? The threads just got moved and I had a glance at them.
An event like this should be plastered over the forum, plastered over the radio, plastered over the Habbox.com homepage etc. Not you dropping the name once a month in some unrelated thread or some crap. Looking at habbox.com all I can see currently is the Draw My Thing event that's already been on for nearly 14 days, nothing about the next 'major' competition?
So again, why is there no advertisement on the event (and by advertisement I don't mean you dropping the name on odd occasions).

We've been planning extra things to the last minute, whether it be due to away time of management or management changes. I wanted to make sure all the planning was there to limit the chance of things going wrong, than keep hyping something up every day and then finding out everyone thought it was rubbish.
I agree more planning could have been done, as I never thought of Habbox Todays or avatars, I did forget about them. Hopefully, though, during the next event we do (which might be next month) the hype and advertisement will be there.

It's a bit harsh on Sam to focus so much on the advertising thing, no AGM has ever really gone full out advertising an event. I don't recall any event anyway, there may have been a few one offs which were advertised well in advance but usually all the details and advertising was done a couple of hours before it started. Perhaps "back in the day", the numbers that Habbox had helped spread that hype/word about the event as soon as it started so there is now an argument for advertising well before. If there is going to be more advertising done beforehand, I'd like to offer the suggestion to reintroduce images to the forum notices at the top. Yes people complained they were annoying but at least they stood out and got more attention than just a standard notice so I'd say the benefits outweigh the negatives.
Hype isn't really built up by advertising anyway. Hype is built up via creativity and being original. Draw my Thing wasn't advertised and it had something like a 6 page thread - never actually checked lol might be more might be less - before it even started (and that was only by a permissions accident) and it'd have had a 6 page thread as soon as it started precisely because it was so different to other events. That to me is the more disappointing thing in that HxEE, despite the months of planning, is still just the same as every other HxEE (and another fansite event maze, really! whenever someone said they were gonna do a maze when I was AGM I'd always think arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh). Come on Sam you were comps staff for years, I know you have it in you to put your own stamp on things. As I always said when I was comps management, much better to take the risk and fail than stick to the safety net and you were always the one who listened to this.

The planning on HabbCrazy began with me suggesting we had a 1v1 game, the same on both sides which could focus on having gates and such whereby the questions would be operated by keywords from Habbox/HabbCrazy questions to gain more traffic on our sites and then the winner each time would win the badge. Then, we got talking about other things we could do and so it developed into a room specific for HabbCrazy and a room specific for Habbox to get the word out about us even more. Does that make sense? So originally, I didn't suggest a maze don't worry :P, although the event we're doing now is a lot more thought out than just a general maze!

I guess it's not to late to get someone in news to write a short news story announcement thing about it and someone in graphics to wave up a habbox today banner. So that when people visit the main site that's potentially the first thing they see.

Wait, this thing starts tomorrow and there's no mention of it on the Habbox main site at all? Oh dear :P
Yeah it's definitely not too late to get a pretty news article up mainly for the benefit of it actually looking like we are doing something for easter for anyone who decides to view the site, and also to bump down the latest news article that was posted on the 7th april (almost a week ago woo) and has the styling and layout of a deceased fish, (although the content is pretty good so its a shame the overall look lets it down).
Mike is right in that in the olden days there used to be more "hype" about events like this because it spread mainly via word of mouth and would be prominent on the main site, and the dates would be long confirmed/known etc but I guess so long as the planning has been done right then we should be in for lots of exciting things over the next coming week which will bring hundreds of new members to the forum, site, radio and give Habbox a much needed boost to showcase what it does best!
i think you were deffo late with getting the announcements up
advertisement is quite an important aspect when hosting an event too so it shouldn't have been forgotten about, especially when it's supposed to be large scale event anyway. it doesn't really matter if particular types of advertisement have or haven't been used in the past by other management, ideally we should be trying different techniques to get people to take part. like someone mentioned, it would have been nice to have staff/management change their avatars and signatures with stuff from the graphics department. one of those forum announcement things could have been created too (i presume one's gonna be made anyway but would have been nice to do it early). a lotttt should have been changed on the actual habbox.com site so it's easy for newcomers to understand what the event is. tbh if habbox.com was done up a couple of giveaways could have been beneficial too, asking people to check out the site whilst in queue or maybe putting the code for the giveraway on there. hxl could've done an opening show too, getting loads of new people to listen in and find out whats going on over the two weeks its going on for

no1 knows its happening but theres only the core habbox ppl who will attend regardless so its not like advertising is going to make a world of difference

-.-
I agree, advertising isn't going to make a world of difference, but some difference is better than none. The advertisement for "Draw My Thing" only kicked off once the event has started, and I personally don't think it would have made any difference if we advertised earlier. I have been using every means of advertisement available to us though, including forum avatars, signatures, and Habbox Todays. I have spoken to other department managers as well to get HabboxLive DJs and event organisers to advertise the competition. The Content department has also helped out by making a page and a notification for Draw My Thing on the website. At the end of the day, it all comes down to team effort. With Draw My Thing, we have only managed to get 2 or 3 new members to play, but with a large scale event like HxEE in which every department is heavily involved, I'm sure advertisement will work very well in attracting new members to the forum.
OT, a Habbox Today has been made for HxEE :)

I think SNQ should be 1 point per correct answer as well.

Usually the SNQ winner gets multiple points rather than 1 point for every question
Samantha
13-04-2014, 07:41 PM
I think SNQ should be 1 point per correct answer as well.
In HxSS it'd be 20 points per correct answer as we have a quota of 200 points per hour.
If you win SNQ you will receive 5 points, as 1 point per question isn't really fair as someone who isn't at the quiz could then have to win say 5 competitions or 10 events to equal the same amount. Me and Charlie discussed the amount and as it's not on that often we felt it was a fair amount.
Also, yes, 1 point per win an event as well as the usual furni/Tokens/rep :).
Hope things are cleared up now!
