Today during the Saturday Night Quiz, the questions that were being asked were either related to a date or a number, most of which all being number related...
There was about 2 questions throughout the whole of the quiz that had nothing to do with numbers or dates!
How could you accept a total of 18 questions especially ones with the questions of:
"How many legs does a spider have?"
"What's today's date BST?"
"When did ... open?" (Facebook, Twitter).
This is completely ridiculous and needs to be sorted I don't know what you could be thinking right now Empired; but have 18 questions to do with numbers is absolutely boring, variation is key when it comes to SNQ because it means there is something from all aspects of quiz's not just, dates, numbers and math.
To me it didn't even seem like he put much thought into making these questions, more like he got questions and copied and pasted them and got them accepted.
Do something about it is my simple questions.
The two times we got a question with variation I felt like it was about to change but this was hard, when we had 2 questions left...

I won the quiz and I absolutely agree.
We had 3 non-numerical answers (One of which was a date, which was the majority of the quiz).
Many of the questions had the same theme (When did this website open?)
I'm not surprised that HxHD staff don't come up with a variety of questions, but I am shocked that these questions got approved considering they were all pretty much the same thing.
How does the SNQ approving system work?

Lack of effort from HxHD staff? Surely not
tbh having numerical answers isn't that big a deal but "what is today's date" is rather lazy

I totally saw this coming :P
Congrats at Kardan for the win :)
But ya i totally agree that there should have been more effort into these questions

I personally think he did a good job. I don't know if this was his first time or not but he still did a great job. If it was approved it means it was good questions. Maybe this time was related about numbers and stuff and net Saturday can be about colors....

That question was awful, absolutely no format was given, so the answer that got awarded the point said '4/12'
Also, the question 'When did Habbo Canada close, month and year', the answer 'June 2004' got accepted - not sure if the point got awarded when the host realised he ballsed it up or not, but rather surprising since I thought staff just copy and paste the Qs from the HxHD subforum.

He said BST, so I assumed he meant it should have been answered day/month and not month/day so was confused when I was awarded the point.

Nah, BST just meant what day is it in Britain at the moment, so people in Australia might have answered 13th April.
What I was expecting to see was something like 'dd/mm/yyyy' at the end of the question, if anything - but really that shouldn't be in a general knowledge quiz.

If you're telling me that the SNQ should be done for the community then they should start listening to it otherwise, everyone will start to leave because they aren't in "our favor" (liking my Hunger Games quote?), It's pathetic with the amount of effort that went into the questions.

How it worked before, they'd come up with the questions, they'd get PMed to hxhd management and they'd approve it and check that everything was correct, clarify questions where they were badly worded etc. Either this doesn't happen anymore cos 'what day is it today' is just ........

How can you know he did a good job if you weren't there? Anyways, my issues aren't really with the host, as I said, I don't expect staff to get it right all the time, especially if it's there first time. His hosting skills were fine (Not sure if he missed the 'Next Question' bubble towards the end or if I missed it myself), it's just the question variety was poor.
But that's something that management should notice.

Because the first post really makes sense if you weren't there? You can't have a personal opinion or thought about someone's hosting if you weren't there to witness it or know anything about it...
I wasn't there myself, so I don't have an opinion on the hosting itself, and to be honest, it makes no sense for you to have one. From what I've heard, it'd be nice to have a greater variety of questions. :P

Also, anyone that's hosted an SNQ before... Do you simply send the questions to whoever reviews them, and then simply copy and paste the already written question into Habbo?
If so, does that mean the question with an error wasn't caught during the reviewing period either?
Reality
12-04-2014, 06:49 PM
During the "review" of the questions, all the manager does is see if they're of suitable length and difficulty.
The host will generally C+P the questions that's why the SNQ is so short...
And some hosts change their answers, if there is a debate about it. Also, the answers are 99.9% of the time not checked by the manager.

Why won't the manager check the answers as well? it's only 20 questions

'Suitable length?' - I don't even know what this means? Does a question have to consist of so many words? :S
And difficulty - clearly that isn't checked with things like 'Name today's date'.
And why wouldn't you check the answers?
Literally all of SNQ's problems would be solved with a good review system that actually works, then all you need to rely on is a host to do his job properly.

If the majority of the questions were all numerical then there can't have been too much thought put into them. I think all it will take is a bit more time and planning before the SNQ starts. It might also be an idea for Charlie to check over the questions before they are asked.

O/T: I always thought the questions had to be approved beforehand? If they don't then maybe they should I know in the HxHD handbook theres sites that were provided that had questions on them that can be used if the person was struggling to think of questions.
I think personally people are blaming the host where we should really be giving some credit to the host for actually stepping up and hosting it, perhaps SNQ just needs a whole revamp with questions that are suitable so everyone is happy. I know some of the questions were somewhat odd but he tried.

Is it a requirement that HxHD staff have to host a SNQ? It shouldn't be. And if it isn't, it was his choice to wake up at 4am.
Secondly, if he spent a long time putting those questions together, then that's worrying. Thirdly, it's more about the review system not catching these questions out. I'd like to here what TheJokerEffect; thinks, and how the review system works. Does he just PM Empired and get an 'Okay' back?
And how does picking the SNQ host work, and when does the question writing/approving take place?

What was your huge mistake? The incorrect answer? As I've been saying, it should have been caught in the review but you did a better job than most hosts and actually recognised there was a mistake. Most hosts just ignore what people are saying and just award the point as normal.

This thread is pathetic and staff trying to catch out other staff by posting screenshts etc.
If I was new to the forum I would be gone within seconds.

I do agree Rosy's way of telling you if there's a mistake was so easy to see, as she clearly marked the individual errors in each of the questions!!!
But the majority of the questions were lazy...
They used to be checked. rosy with her red bold changes lol like a teacher. It really is as simple as that tbh. Mistakes will still happen ofc but at least there'll be some quality control.
If the host got up at 4am, well done, didn't have to but you did and don't let this thread put you off hosting it again one day. :D

I had no problems at all with the quality of your hosting skills; the questions were very repetitive and lacked creativity/variety.
Just include this in your next SNQ, would be nice to see...!
I will admit, i did make a huge mistake, one that will most definitely be fixed but you can't just go yelling at people and all that over mistakes that were clearly not put there on purpose.
@Kardan (http://www.habboxforum.com/member.php?u=3428); I host again in the first week of May. Let's hope for a better round then.
I do apologise for it, i do admit it wasn't my best performance, I will do better next time.

He got up at 4am well done to him?!?! Doesn't bother me if he was up all night and all day, the fact is there was little or no effort in the amount of variety in the questions, all of which using "When did this open" "When did this happen"
The variety was poor and just needed to be changed...
Well consider this. Draven who spent a lot of time trying to put together some questions, got up at 4am his time (had work in 7 hours too) and all for a job that he doesn't even get paid for. Gets ******* at for a few mistakes
Sorry but Draven here doesn't need all this ******** in the morning. People make some mistakes, its only human nature.

This thread is the most pathetic thread I've ever seen.
There were problems supposedly, I wasn't there. We've been told by seniors what's going to happen from now on to stop it happening.
End of. ;)

You've clearly not seen many threads then if it's the 'most pathetic'. It's helping to identify a problem that occurred in the SNQ so that HxHD management and staff know what was wrong with the quiz and then can stop it happening again
Yeah so pathetic

It's a turn of phrase.
There could have easily been a few posts, the issue has been sorted now. Screenshots aren't needed etc. of who was and wasn't online, that is pathetic! :P

If a staff member is talking crap about something they haven't witnessed other staff have every right to point that out lol. It's not showing who is and isn't online it's simply stating the person defending them wasn't.
It's not pathetic it's preventing one member talking crap and giving constructive criticism on the event.

Sorry could the phrase, 'you weren't online' not have been enough?
No sorry we have to take a screenshot to prove everything even though I'm sure she would have admitted.
Who cares, there were problems and we've been instructed on what to do in the future to stop this from happening.
ok ladies, this one might just turn into an argument so i suggest you leave it.
and I am happy to announce charlie has taken this thread on board very quickly and changed a few things.

Why bother when you can simply prove it.
Well done, so this thread has stopped it from happening in the future, so the pathetic thread has achieved its purpose.

If it's pathetic and petty to post a screenshot then it's equally as pathetic and petty saying don't lie you weren't there...
There's nothing pathetic about it. It's proving a point.
It served its purpose pages ago but you continue to post crap saying it's pathetic. Feel free not to reply then I won't have to waste another 10 seconds replying.

Disagree. There is virtually nothing else in their 'job' description and it's the one thing that requires actual interaction with community members.
The current batch of hxhd staff are the most docile, submissive and uninteresting lot I have ever seen... jeez, I thought ms.aquamarine was quiet... these guys are vegetables compared to her. When did the helpdesk change from being the community hub of habbox where everybody knew everybody to the habbox apprenticeship scheme where down-and-out 20somethings with mental capacities of potatoes sit behind a wall all day to prepare them for life in poundland?
pull your socks up hxhd or you're next on the chopping block.
also this xxzammyxx bird is an idiot, fire her.
I would agree with you if HxHD actually did implement their 'alternative' SNQ time - but since they haven't, it means some HxHD staff will have to wake up in the middle of the night to host, and that's not right.

And have I missed the post where Empired; said what changes have been made to presumably the review system?
The system doesn't need reviewing, it just wasn't put in place properly this week.

Posted in the HxHD Staff Forums earlier:
I think we've all heard that tonight (now last night) didn't go too smoothly and that was my fault for not really taking on board what the questions were for certain reasons, but I think SNQ's been needing some help for a while so now is the perfect time to get things straight again!
The new procedure for SNQ:
Send your questions via Private Message to me (Empired) and the seniors (Cassiieee and zebbadi) by Thursday at the latest. The seniors and I will then review your questions and we will correct them and send them back to you by noon (BST) on Saturday.
Notes:
-If you don't or can't get your questions to us by the end of Thursday, we will not accept them. We will always have a set of questions written by me on standby, and will simply use those instead. This means you can only get half an hour added to your time as you didn't write the questions!
-You can write a maximum of two questions on one subject. E.g no more than two "How old is *name of person*?" questions, no more than two history questions, etc.

If no HxHD staff member was able to host SNQ, when I was manager I'd go ahead and host it if I was able to. If I couldn't, then I asked the General Manager (Matt) and Community Manager (who was Michael at the time). Also for the periods where I had assistants (Kirst & Harriet) they were also happy to host too when they could.
A host's SNQ questions were checked and corrections were PM'd to HxHD management and General Management (GM & CM mainly). I also sent the questions to the SNQ host's senior leaders or senior group. This was so if the manager(s) didn't catch a mistake there would be someone else who would spot it. If this isn't done anymore, please do return it because it's very helpful. :)
Edit - Just saw the post. Good it's coming back! :)
Kyle; In 2011 when I first started HxHD management to early 2012, I was down and not as responsive due to other users who were quite rude and put me down, but when I got encouragement and confidence, after those first few months I learned to prove and show other people what I could do and to try my best as manager. So nope, after that I stopped being 'quiet' and sad and got right into action by communicating with others in HxHD more, having one-on-one time with my staff if they had any issues, not being afraid to step into feedback and express my views on a subject and reply to others, and much more . I'm happy with how I improved myself during my time as manager - it taught me a good amount of things. There are things I wish I could have done more in HxHD and there are things I'm glad I did for HxHD, but what was most important to me was when my staff were happy and comfortable I definitely was too. :)
Inseriousity.

Might as well mention that last weeks SNQ was pretty much spot on @NoNoNoNoDPWMH (http://www.habboxforum.com/member.php?u=68882);
(And I got their name right!)
Thanks for the mention Kardan, and I'm glad you enjoyed it! Gutted that I missed yesterday's quiz with my birthday timing... but you can't win 'em all.
And glad that these restrictions on question limits are being put into action again (even though I never saw the restrictions before, ever!) :)
