hiiiiiiiiiiiii

i bought a headset to use with my laptop today but i've just checked and my laptop has a headphone port but not a microphone one. is there any sort of adapter i could put into the headphone port to use my headset? i imagine there is but i wouldn't know where to go about getting one so if you could links from ebay/amazon that'd be cool

oh and if it helps the headset that i have is the microsoft lifechat lx-2000. thank yaaa!

isn't lifechat USB based? (edit; nvm im thinking lx-3000)

but you can buy a USB sound card then use it

i thought it would've been but nah it's not

is the only way of doing it by using a sound card? i don't want to even attempt to put one of them in omg

edit: OH you said usb sound card i thought you meant me having to open up my laptop. i'll check them out thx +rep

Yeah USB, although they'll be more expensive than the headset i'd imagine :p

Can look up Microphone to USB Adapters I'm sure you'll get some of them for cheap, not sure how good they'll be though never used them before.

My personal reccomendation for you would be to buy a USB headset. Already mentioned but the Microsoft Lifechat LX3000s! USB and last for ages with a small price tag!

cheers you two! i'm deffo not buying a new headset and cba to take this one back so i'll try one of those cheap ones

i'll order it tomorrow and let you know how it goes on aha. hopefully it should be alreeeeeeet

Oh and that headphone port should be a dual headphone/mic port. Bit like ones found on iPods and iPhones ;)
