Jews in the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk where pro-Russian militants have taken over government buildings were told they have to "register" with the Ukrainians who are trying to make the city become part of Russia, according to Ukrainian and Israeli media.
Jews emerging from a synagogue say they were handed leaflets that ordered the city's Jews to provide a list of property they own and pay a registration fee "or else have their citizenship revoked, face deportation and see their assets confiscated," reported Ynet News, Israel's largest news website.
Donetsk is the site of an "anti-terrorist" operation by the Ukraine government, which has moved military columns into the region to force out militants who are demanding a referendum be held on joining Russia. The news was carried first by the Ukraine's Donbass news agency.http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2014/04/17/jews-ordered-to-register-in-east-ukraine/7816951/
Becoming more and more familiar.

I am sceptical at stories like this, often they're used by western media or spun out of proportion. For example, apparently all Russians 20 to 60 or something like that are being barred from enterting the Ukraine by Kiev's Government. That said, this story wouldn't surprise me.

Isn't this actually a load of rubbish? Ukrainian Jews who have links to the Government have not been told this. They're not official documents and if anything are random propaganda with the sole purpose of causing anxiety in the Jew community.

If anything the media are flying to this incorrect story like flies to a turd...

Wouldn't surprise me if it's false/blown out of proportion, a lot of warfare or supposed acts nowadays are for propaganda purposes.
Wow another attempt to give people a reason to support an attack on Russia.
Reminds me. Does anyone even care about the bloody Jews in Israhell attacking the Syrians. Not to mention they are being funded by the American Gov't and Canada is their main supplier of tanks and weapons.
If it is true why does Russia just does things like this to piss people off. Aren't they already in deep crap with the security council and America.

Well considering is all over Crimea. The Usa and the so called Gov't in Kiev want all of Ukraine to be. They people in Crimea want to be part of Russia. Back to their roots. Honestly, if a group of people peacefully vote on a referendum, and 90% of them vote to leave Ukraine, then that's 100% their right. Yet most of the world disagrees with that as they gotta please Big Brother Usa.
But if people go around fighting, causing riots, and deaths of many people. Thats totally fine? Well it is, but the people of Crimea did it the civilized way.

If I recall correctly they were lining up troops on the actual Ukraine/Russia border, which is north of Crimea but not the actual peninsula, so there's a hint that they want the west of Ukraine, which is mostly supported by pro-Russians.

Eastern not western Ukraine.
Good thing not everyone takes their news here at face value. It's the media finding anything to blow it out of proportion, almost on the verge of Russophobia.
I can tell you this, Ukraine in its current form is completely doomed unless there is federalization. If that doesn't happen, plan B may mean more territorial advanced by Russia or a country in anarchy on the brink of a civil war. As unpleasant as that sounds, it's the only assessment that can be made at present.
The country is essentially so unbalanced that the western side will never been in sync with the eastern side because it's so different. A centralized form of government will only lead to more overthrows of various governments on loop. A sort of tug-of-war scenario that has been happenining ever since the Orange Revolution.

Whoops :P
It's the problem with all countries that border two distinct cultural zones. Ukraine is stuck between Europe and Russia. Agreed, Federalisation is the only way for them to go simply because the country has two distinct cultures that could never been unified by a central Government - they have different interests which will always conflict.

Pro-Russian Ukrainians, not just Crimeans ;) There were troops being placed on the border of Ukraine, not Crimea, near Donetsk which is a different region.
