what are your views on men wearing makeup, are you against the idea or for it?

some questions to help the discussion:

if you're attracted to men, would you be turned off if they wore makeup?
if you're male, have you ever wore makeup? and if not, why not?

(this is excluding facepaint and other makeup for halloween and fancy dress)

no, because I'm straight.

I don't wear it every day but do fairly often. It's not like orange face and huge winged eyeliner I just use it to darken or lighten certain areas to accentuate features which is what it's for really. Also useful for those rare occasions that I get a spot or cut on my face so I can cover it up :P

i'd date someone who wore concealer or eyeliner but nothing else really

have nothing against it and some people can pull it off, just wouldn't wanna date a guy who was better at makeup than me lol....

oh I glanced over the thread

if you're attracted to men, would you be turned off if they wore makeup?
no, because I'm straight (so i'm not going to be attracted to men in either case).

if you're male, have you ever wore makeup? and if not, why not?
no, because it's not something that's considered 'normal' for men or something I'd take any interest in doing.

what are your views on men wearing makeup, are you against the idea or for it?
personally, yes.

mmm kpop guys all wear makeup like foundation/concealer and eyeliner, i find it hot
but realistically i think it'd turn me off in a relationship if they were doing it everyday cause i don't wear makeup often & don't want them looking/acting more feminine than me

Jurv
18-04-2014, 05:26 PM
i've never wore it but thats because i've never really felt like i've needed to before

i'm not against it, if it makes the person wearing it feel better about themselves then why not

I don't care if a guy who is just my friend or someone idk wears make up, as for someone im dating err i dont act know.

Personally I've worn concealer and used something called eye serum before because the skin jus below my eyes looks awful, nothin else

FlyingJesus

Isn't eye serum for when you're old and wrinkly

I use concealer but that's about it, I find that men wearing make-up acceptable. I just don't like it when you see them out in everyday situations made up and looking like a drag queen.

Samantha

Never really thought about it to say whether I agree or not, I don't wear makeup so they'd have to understand they'd be wearing more than me all the time. It'd just depend how I felt in that situation with different people.

No male actor who's been a part of the film business since its conception has actually been a man, wow.

I have worn eyeliner but only because I was drunk and let someone else apply it. Don't think I would wear makeup, I think it looks quite odd on some people and makes them look like drag queens. Fair enough if that's the look you're going for but it looks a right state to me. People fuss too much about how they look...

I'm not against it at all, if someone wants to wear it I think that's fine. Although I'm not sure if I would date someone who wore it

Never wore make up but if ppl are happy wearing it then i don't rly mind. As long as a guy doesn't wear LOADS of it I don't have a prob

what is the 'problem' if a guy wears lots of makeup, this is a genuine question

Absently
18-04-2014, 08:09 PM
Literally couldn't care less if its to hide certain things on their skin they do not like. Boys deffo don't need mascara cus generally they have lush eyelashes anyway :( so jel! I'm not sure about eyeliner it'd really be if it suited them or not? But if it did that'd be fine with me. The only problem I'd have is if they were taking far longer to apply it than me!!

Zelda

i'd have no problems for like concealing or just making a more overall skin tone or anything like that really with a guy i'm dating, i've considered it myself before too especially cause i have really bad darkness under my eyes i want to cover up really, though never actually tried it yet

i think kpop guys are the only ones who look hot wearing THAT much make up
i would date someone if they wore like concealer or bb cream

I've worn make up but only because I do a lot of shows and it's necessary for lighting and stuff. I don't wear it because I don't think it would fix my insecurities and when I wear it for shows it feels like my face is like 10 pounds heavier especially my eyes so omg can't deal with that! The only time I've wore it apart from shows is for my selfie for cancer awareness :P

what are your views on men wearing makeup, are you against the idea or for it?
Nah, each to their own. If they wear make up to make themselves feel and look good, to feel more confident or strong then go for it!

Think this video is a good watch:

I wore it once for a performance in primary school but I was forced to wear it. I might have worn the stuff that covers up spots when I got them but thats it.

Well I don't wear makeup that often only when I'm going out or going somewhere fancy so if a guy wore it more than me, it would be a big no no. If they wore it nicely where you can actually be sure they have like foundation but they actually do, I would think about dealing with it. Never had this problem though, never even knew any guy that wears make up tbh..

I absolutely hate the thought of makeup, and I'm against it for anyone - be it male or female. I'd never wear it, nor would I want a partner of mine to do so.

Not saying that I'd dislike someone over it though. It's their choice and there's no reason to give serious judgement over it.

it'd be a turn off cause i prefer clean face but wouldn't mind with concealer

i've worn concealer to hide acne scars

No - and to be honest, I don't even know what 'concealer' is.

And scottish; said 'No, because I'm straight' and Jurv; questioned that - but have you not seen the correlation between people's answers in this thread and people's sexuality? I noticed it anyway.

I never said the word gay :P

I just happen to see a correlation between straight people saying no, and non-straight people saying yes, that's all.

Urgh, it's weird to see men wearing make up. I had a friend who likes to wear lipstick, or is it lip gloss? I really can't tell. It gives me the "oogie" everytime i see him.

Lols to each their own. Really being against something that makes someone happy/ier because it doesn't fit your views is honestly disgusting. If your a man and want to wear makeup, go the **** for it. If your a woman and wana start lifting weights, get to the bloody gym. I don't know why some people r so h8ful!

I've worn makeup when I've done background on set, I apply the EOS lipbalm (Eggies :D) like constantly as it tastes sooo good and works much better than stuff for men. Erm I've actually wanted to get something to reduce the bags under my eyes.

I honestly don't know how most makeup works lol.

I am finding more and more now I will put in a super light layer of bb cream on a daily basis just to cover up blemishes a little but you can barely see it/ wouldn't know unless I pointed it out. I don't know how comfortable I would be wearing makeup that is super obvious like chicks wear it

i don't mind it but personally I wouldn't wear it, I don't mind it on other guys either, but I'm not really attracted to those who over do it and I have wore it before but mainly for dance shows because lights make you look so ******* pale if you're bare faced lol

Not surprising I've never worn make-up. Each to their own I suppose. I don't know any men that wear make-up really... (that I know about).. Apart from people on here :P
