Today is the 15th Anniversary of the Columbine High School Massacre.
The Columbine High School massacre was a school shooting which occurred on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School in Columbine, an unincorporated area of Jefferson County in the State of Colorado. In addition to shootings, the complex and highly planned attack involved a fire bomb to divert firefighters, propane tanks converted to bombs placed in the cafeteria, 99 explosive devices, and bombs rigged in cars. Two senior students, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, murdered a total of 12 students and one teacher. They injured 24 additional students, with three other people being injured while attempting to escape the school. The pair then committed suicide
There is a good post on imgur about the massacre here - http://imgur.com/gallery/xxdAn (it's fairly indepth and discusses some of the students and a brief overview of themselves) - it also discusses the killers a lot. I know you probably won't read it all but it's an interesting read to say the least. The killers were aged 17 and 18 and the youngest person killed in the incident was aged 14 - the entire massacre lasted almost an hour.
You can listen to a clip of the 911 call made by Patti Nielson here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4HsYMgn9aHs and I warn you that a handful of the imgur pictures are mildly graphic.

I know this isn't gonna brighten up your day, but I just think it's important that people know about this stuff and that we remember those 13 people that died today.
RIP :(, this is almost bringing me to tears :'(

i researched this so much a few years back, always found it fascinating and i know loads of others do too
did you know that roughly 1 in 25 americans is a sociopath? i always felt it was weird for not just one but TWO kids to get together and decide this is an okay thing to do. as far as i'm aware one of them pushed for it much harder and persuaded and manipulated the other one into it, but isn't that kind of scary, how someone can have that much power over another person and how common antisocial personality disorder actually is?
anyway i'll read it now but probably know all about it already

it makes me sick how the focus is always on the 2 boys and their 'troubles'
especially from their little fangirls on tumblr yuck
the focus should always be on their victims
nice to see some information on them
it is a scary figure tara, imagine how much people u walk past or are even friendly with that are actually sociopathic? thankfully not every sociopath is a murderer and vice versa.

omg there's fan girls on tumblr what?!
was reading that post on imgur earlier, it's so sad and scary but i always prefer if they don't focus on the killers. the students that were murdered and injured should be the main priority of how their life was. i personally don't think it's an excuse that they were severely bullied which ended up them murdering these people over it. why kill the purely innocent? in the imgur thing it shows what they were saying in one part about getting the jocks to stand up and the people in white jackets or something (idk what that bit means) so that they could kill them, which is so sick :( i get that the majority of the people who bullied them were jocks but eurgh it just makes my bloody boil

I think what angers me the most out of all of it, is that they committed suicide and their families never got a chance to see justice. I seriously wish their attempts would have failed and they'd gotten a life sentence (full life) in prison for what they did. Maybe death penalty but i've never decided where I stand on that.
I didn't realise how long ago that was. Such a horrible thing, RIP.
the term sociopath is bandied around rather a lot in recent years. it's interesting that there don't seem to be all that many female sociopaths and that being 1 is pretty much a requirement of being highly successful.
as for the killings, well, the extensive media coverage of these murders has spawned far too much "scurrying around for causal theory" - figuring out WHY they did it and looking deep into their lives- rather than just letting the dead rest. These boys took the lives of innocent children because their troubles manifested in such a way that made them believe that doing so would be a good idea. That's pretty much all there is to it and as long as guns are around there is every possibility that it can happen again. We should remember those killed by celebrating their lives, not dredging up the journals and poetry of murderers and sending a message to others that if you do something so unspeakable that it will remain in the public imagination for decades to come.

Did they not investigate that thoroughly in the end then? Because to me that's quite a surprise, you would think they'd look deep and report on that etc, unless they never released the info?
so so sad
i find it rly interesting as well idk why its a bit of a morbid fascination i think

there are plenty if u just search columbine tumblr
most of them claim they're not fangirls and are interested in the case yet post pictures of the boys before the shootings as though an attempt to humanise them. never actually acknowledge the victims lol?
theres a big tumblr following for jahar tsarneav (little for his brother) who p claim it's not because he's attractive that they think he's innocent but because none of the information adds up apparently. seen some for james holmes for some reason too
there is a big difference between the fangirls of jahar and someone like ed gein or hitler though.

yeah it's not so surprising though there are blogs dedicated to ted bundy and other 'good looking' serial killers and rapists

The people who create these fan pages are just as bad as the two boys. Even if it is a joke - it is disgusting. 12 families are forever missing their son/ daughter/ sister/ brother/ cousin because of these two selfish people.
Things like this make me so angry. Kids are meant to feel safe at school. The families never got to say goodbye. Then the two boys killed themselves - I would of liked to see them rot in prison.
