Is it no longer against the rules to post a reply in the trade section just saying how much we think the furni is worth?

The rules were relaxed last year sometime. You are allowed to post what ever as long as it is relevant to the furni they are selling / buying.

if you are interested in buying or selling the furni the user is offering i don't have a problem

Not sure how you would distinguish interest in a lot of different furni from different threads and spam, but fair enough, question was answered.
