I have three times and donated today, didn't take too long and had a tea and a biscuit afterwards haha. Started donating in Summer 2013. :)

I really want to give blood and I do hope to give it sometimes but I have a really bad phobia when it comes to needles and the thoughts of them taking a pint of blood makes my feel ill. I thought it was only like a syringe worth of blood :(

What makes on ineligible to give blood?

Medical reasons or what this link says: http://www.blood.co.uk/giving-blood/who-cant-give-blood/

I want to but never have. I get my blood taken every few months as it is and I hate needles, so the thought of doing it more often scares me. :(

I'm pretty sure I remember seeing a thread about this not too long ago.

I would give blood, but unfortunately I'm not eligible :(

Waiting until I'm old enough but I know my mum has tried 4 times and nearly fainted everytime so they had to stop. Guess that means I'm giving her sharing too :/

I haven't purely because I hate the idea of anything like that and wouldn't want to unnecessarily have needles stuck in me

I'm borderline eligible, my weight fluctuates quite a lot so it would depend on a day to day basis. Most times I've intended to before I have been ineligible or so close to the border they turned me away (I have a common blood type anyway).

For those wondering, eligibility is based o the following:

As long as you are fit and healthy, weigh over 7 stone 12 lbs (50kg) and are aged between 17 and 66 (up to 70 if you have given blood before) you should be able to give blood. If you are over 70, you need to have given blood in the last two years to continue donating.
However, If you are female, aged under 20 years old and weigh under 65kg (10st 3lb) and are under 168cm (5' 6") in height, we need to estimate your blood volume before donating. (this is why I was borderline and ended up being turned away before)
Male donors can give blood every 12 weeks. That's approximately every 3 months or 4 times in a 12 month period. Female donors can give every 16 weeks or approximately every 4 months.
If you've travelled outside of the UK (I'm not sure whether it's listed countries or any at all though)
If you have heart conditions
If you've had a infection within the last 2 weeks or taken antibiotics in the last week
Generally feeling ill- even a cold
If you're on a hospital waiting list (the last reason I was turned away)
If you've been to the dentist in the last week
If you've had a piercing or tattoo in the last 4 months
You're male and it hasn't been 12 weeks since last donation
You're female and the same, but 16 weeks
You've had hepatitis or jaundice within a year
You've had acupuncture in the last months
There's a certain horrible disease (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creutzfeldt%E2%80%93Jakob_disease) which means you can't donate if any of your blood relatives have
You've ever had human pituitary extract used in hormone or fertility treatments before '85
If you've received blood in the course of medical treatment since 1980
If you're a male who's had oral or anal sex with a male in the last 12 months
If you're a female who's had sex with a male who's had sex with a male
If you're a commercial sex worker
If you've ever injected yourself with drugs
If you've got haemophilia or related bloodclotting disorders
If you've been sexually active in parts of the world where HIV / AIDS are common, you can check for them

I STARTED THIS LIST OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD THEN ENDED UP GOING ONTO THE WEBSITE TO CLARIFY STUFF omg

When I had my first ever blood test (couple months ago) I cried like a baby even before I did it. They also couldn't find my vein so that was traumatizing. I then turned really pale,,,, so i decided from now on not to go through that again. ~answer no not eligible. ~

Sucks doesn't it? They tried hypnotism with me but it didn't work because I was thinking against it.. And was worried they would stab it into my arm when I wasn't expecting it..
So yeah, I was held down lololol.

no i never have and never plan to either, completely utterly scared of blood and even the thought of donating it makes me feel faint and queezy so pretty sure i'd never manage to actually do it tbh.

of course if that wasn't the case then i probably would though (assuming i'm not scared of needles too cause i've never encountered one to even know)

Yes I have and donated blood a few times so far. I am not fussy for it but if it's to help people then I force myself a bit to go and donate blood.

I've never donated blood before, but would do it for sure.
My dad and mum both have disorders so I am not too sure if I am eligible.

Yup. I've only done it twice, but I'm hoping do it again if I ever manage to last 12 months without having body modification or surgery.
