I'd like to know what exactly happened, since it's had a bigger impact on some people and not so much on others... I lost just over 1,000, but Jesus had maybe about 22,000 and has gone down to about 15,000? Maybe some part of the forum had post count disabled?

Recursion let his gf deleted Chippiewills account

This resulted in MattG screwing with the database to give chippiewill his member data (post counts etc) back from what I'm aware then obviously ****** something up

Well.. let me rephrase.

When it -does- happen, it's usually in some way connected to recursion, from what I've seen anyway.

So it was a proper database delete, as in going straight into it rather than through an admin panel (if vBulletin has that)? That's pretty serious... So all posts associated with the account were removed, too?

I think Recursion showed her the button and let her press it. It was done in the standard vBulletin way. The problem occurred as a result of Matt trying to fix my post-count.

I've had a look and have no information on what happened to their account. We also don't delete accounts upon request either to my knowledge. Unless it was done by Jin then I am not too sure, I would have to ask him when he is back from his holiday to see if he remembers at all.

The only time I remember we officially deleting an account with a real reason is when requested to do so by the UK Police.

It's rare in the more recent years. I can't really speak what has happened in the past before I was in this role so accounts being deleted back then could have been a thing. What he was probably trying to do was fix the posts on the actual forum, when a user gets deleted it messes up the database post count etc and also we don't want all of chippies posts being under 'guest'.

It doesn't 'mess up the database post count etc', if you delete an account that's what it's going to do, the posts will remain under 'ChippieWill (Guest)'

Only if he tries to fix them it'll mess up.

I haven't ran any queries that has messed up the database. I ran one of the update counters in vBulletin by mistake which then caused all of your post counts to reduce. Obviously this wouldn't have happened if nothing went wrong with Chippiewills account in the first place.

Unless someone screwed something up that resulted in the post counts being lowered before updating counters?

Matt triggered a post recount in the VB control panel. For a variety of reasons certain posts over the years have been pruned or deleted. In addition some forums will have had post count disabled after a period of being enabled which unlike moving threads did not remove post counts (Notably the forum games forum which I think accounts for most of my drop in posts). As a result the post count of most people went down.

You just seem a bit blunt in your replies.

Probably as I'm frustrated about the whole issue more than anything.

How dare you answer questions rather than asking how we all are

You will notice that your post count has changed this evening - It is NOT fully restored so some posts will still be missing from your actual post count.

Mine seem about ~300 lower than when it reset, plus whatever I've gained since then.

Hmm, I'm sure I had more posts than FJ and Undertaker, did Undertaker really have over 17,000?

My post count is bang-on +-5, I can investigate if you really think it's wrong.

He said he was chasing me for Habbox God so I wouldn't be surprised if he was on 17k+

if it's not fully fixed when do you expect it to be?

Kardan

Maybe I just have a bad memory :P I'd wait and see if anyone else thinks its wrong.

Can you seriously change your god damn avatars. When someone gives me access to a backup closer to the time we the update counter was ran. In the mean time we have used the testforum database to give you some of the posts back for the mean time. The testforum is based of a March 2014 backup.

I had 16,640 posts on the 21st of April (checked my working for the 'Does post count mean anything for you' thread, and I had literally a handful more than FJ I think).

Just checked Gomme's and FJ's though, and they seem to have increased a reasonable amount than my figures since then, so their post counts seem fine. Maybe it's something to do with certain forums not being counted?

Would only be an issue if post count has been disabled on a forum which was previously enabled.

it did and I stated so earlier in the thread. postcount was disabled in those forums a few days or a week into the competition.

So in many ways, post counts are now what they should have been.
