Well I was stuck for a title, but it's not just Team Fortress 2 which is causing me problems. I believe I should be able to run games on my pc fine, but I loaded up TF2 today and it was just so laggy people talking would echo etc. Apparently when I DJ on Habbox live, my mic is laggy too, however on skype it is not.

It's not my internet that's an issue, as my brother can play on his laptop quite happily, it seems fine. I'm on a desktop, it's pretty basic but it should be compaitable with games as old as TF2. I'm wondering, if it's because I use a Wireless Adapter which is causing me my problems? I'm unable to get my pc closer to the router to plug in an Ethernet cable, so this is my only answer.

I can't seem to load up more than 3 pages without a little lag occuring and running Habbo, I constantly get a message that says "Stop Script", also happens when I play FB games [some of which are also very laggy too] I don't download very many programmes, PC is clean of anything harmful but I just can't seem to work out what the issue is. The PC itself is very quick when turning on, I can open up my first internet page within seconds.

My mum also uses her iPad on the internet and it runs smoothly for her aswell. Internet providor is BT and we have BT Infinity with the Homehub 3.0.

Please help me guys, because really, I want to go back to WoW and if I can't run TF2, WoW is not gunna run at all.

How old is your computer?

Plus lower your graphics settings in tf2.

It's definitely hardware related rather than your internet. Try opening up task manager and checking out CPU and RAM usage. One of those is probably bottlenecking the system. It's also possible there's a lot of dust in your system, it may also be worthwhile taking a panel off the case and clearing out the dust.
