How to do two colour user name - Code?

How do I create a two colour span code for text using PHP?

I've tried using Javascript but just can't get it to work! :(

How would it work with javascript? It couldnt work in the name color field since html is not enabled javascript surely isnt allowed.

I've done that, It's just getting it to work in VB

I've done the Headincludes tag, and I've put one in the footer too, however they just don't seem to be working.
